Good place to publish papers?

So I've taken to writing paper about improving the world in my free time.

Where would I send these to get see if I can get them published? Any good magazines or websites (or anything really) that you can recommend?

As I can assume the topic of my papers would be important to your recommendations, they are as follows:

+On improving the distribution of aid in Sub-Saharan Africa (29 pages)

+On the causes of homelessness in Las Vegas and possible solutions (15 pages)

+On why action must be taken in Darfur immediately (43 pages)

I assume these are too long, but while I don't have a problem cutting them down, I would like them published in their entirety.

I would like to note that I am trying to get them published because 1) I want to help in the world and 2) I think it would greatly help with getting into a good grad school.

Thanks!

Are these reasearched academic papers with citations and the like or are they extended opinion pieces or what?

What institute do you work for? What is your position there? The usual thing researchers do is to send them to the biggest journal out there, see if they accept it and then work your way down until you end up with a bullshit journal that will publish anything as long as it contains a citation every here and there.

This is of course assuming you have written real academic papers.

It sounds like you don't have an advanced degree. If that's the case, it's going to be difficult to get an reputable publications to bite. It's just a matter of credibility, which you lack at the moment. If you're an undergrad or college graduate, your best bet would probably be some sort of publication linked to your school, like a student-published magazine or alumni journal. There are also a lot of college writing competitions that publish the winners (like this one).

I'm afraid that unless you have some letters after your name, or have some notoriety or a hook in the field your writing is in (overseas relief work? Army Special Forces? lived with the homeless for six months?) most publications won't be interested in an unsolicited submission.
