New Graphics Card

Recently the video card(Radeon 9800 Pro) in my desktop computer crapped out. I've got to get a new one soon and I was looking at ATI's X line. Specifically the X1600 or X1650. Now I'm not looking for a card that will let me run every new game at full settings, moderate graphics is fine with me. Mainly I use the desktop to play WoW and I figure the x1600 and the x1650 can both run it well. I just wanted to see if anyone with more video card knowledge had any advice or experience with either card. Also, my computer only has AGP slots, no PCIe slots.

If you 9800 pro was cutting it, settle for the cheap X800. It runs marginally better and will only run you like $100.

AGP is just not worth the investment.

The X1600/X1650 aren't that great, but if you must get them then make sure the clocks aren't lower than they should - there quite are a lot of low-end cards that run slower than the ATI specification. For X1600Pro this would be 500MHz core 800MHz memory, for X1650Pro this would be 600/1400. The X1600Pro, X1600XT and X1650Pro use the same core so the differ only in the speed at which the core and memory work.
Don't be fooled into buying the 512MB versions, as they will most likely have no impact on performance.

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything slower than a 7600GT, if you don't plan on getting a new system, as IMO that would be sacrificing too much but
A 7600GT is roughly equivalent to a 6800GT/Ultra or X800XT/X850XT, so you could also look for one of those, used.

Ideally I would suggest upgrading to a PCI-E system, as the video cards using that interface are much better value; the new CPUs are also considerably faster than CPUs from the era of 9800Pros. You could also get the cheapest card you can find and use it until march or so, when the mainstream DirectX 10 video cards will come out and get a new system then...

    512 meg Biostar 6800XT AGP $144 with a $20 mail-in rebate.

Also, apparently, people have had luck unlocking as many as 8 extra pipes on the card, although YMMV.
