Profile Sharing with Two XBox 360s

One 360 in the living room, one 360 in the bedroom. Tried to get the profiles of my girlfriend and I on both machines using gamertag recovery. Oops. Any time I recover a tag on one machine, it disables it on another!

Ideally, I'd like both 360s to have both profiles for maximum gameplay capability. Is there a way to do this without a memory card?

A memory card is really your only option, unless you want to move a single hard drive between the two and deal with the license issues associated with any DLC or XBLA games.
