Dexter Season 4 bitches! It's coming September 27, 2009!!! I hurd Frank Lundy is coming back and they have a new serial killer the Trinity Killer. It's like season 1 because Dexter admires the serial killer because he's evaded capture for three decades.

So what serial killer was better? The Ice Truck Killer, the Skinner, or
Sgt. Doakes?? which we can assume to be Dexter

The best serial killer? Seriously don't read this spoiler if you haven't seen all of season two, but...
I really don't think we can even pretend that Doakes was a serial killer, let alone the best serial killer. I mean, what, he shoots maybe three guys in the show before he gets killed. Which I'm still pissed about. I loved Doakes.

Also, who's going to bother picking anyone other than Dexter?

Oh man I just found out that the new season of Californication starts the same day as Dexter

    Hot damn

Also Doakes was a total bad-ass in the books because it was implied that he had a Passenger of his own and just kept it in check a lot better than Dexter

And that his dislike of Dexter was because he could "sense" that Dexter was like him, kind of like Dexter himself could with others

I haven't read the books! I like the series enough that I'm disinclined to combine it with the books, if that illogic makes any sense (it doesn't).

The books are pretty mediocre, honestly.

The only similarities, beyond main characters and major events (like the wedding) that is, are in the first season

The first season is literally an expanded version of Darkly Dreaming Dexter

The rest of it takes a hard left which is alright, the second book was good and all but the third was downright retarded and made the Dark Passenger some spawn of a god of death or some bullshit and it actually fucking left Dexter and then came back to him on his wedding day

It was just so goddamn retarded to make it quasi-mystical

    Bleah

also it's probably too late, Wiggin, but you might want to spoiler that bit about the thing what is
the wedding, since it happens in season three

Since I totally didn't see it coming in the first two seasons, and not everyone has read the books

But yeah, I'd also heard that the books were sort of mediocre, so maybe I'll read the first one and then not bother with the second or third.

Yeah I can't edit and I've only watched like a season and a half of this and I base everything off the books

Also feel free to read the second, the second is pretty good!

    If I remember right
he gets his ears, arms, legs, and lips and tongue cut off so he's basically a quadrapalegic

    And he doesn't die

Alright but fair warning is it ties into the climax of the book and the killer and such

Also that spoiler wasn't right anyway but here we go
Basically the killer is a former Army dude who Doakes and Deb's new boyfriend served with (you find out that Doakes was special forces and it's implied that it's because of his own Passenger that he was so good at it), who interrogated enemy soldiers by amputating various body parts while they were still alive

Dude was a complete psychopath and now he's doing it to people he served with (I think? I don't remember how he picked them)

Anyway they manage to track the dude down. Deb's new boyfriend (an FBI agent) loses like a hand. Doakes? Doakes loses his tongue and I think a couple limbs

Dexter rescues them by killing the killer, confirming what Doakes suspected all along

But who's he going to tell now?

So yeah that spoiler was wrong but fuck it this is still more badass

One of the thigns that I really liked about the Dexter books that they dropped is his relationship with Astor and Cody
He recognizes the signs of them growing up to be like him, so he takes them under his wing and teaches them like Harry taught him

kind of a neat idea, but
having an abusive father is a little bit different than being locked up for three days in a shipping container full of blood, severed limbs, and dead bodies (one of which is your mother's)

It was something about how bad the abuse was and the emotional scars it left on them

Originally it was just going to be Cody but in the third book it suddenly included Astor too

Season 4 episode 1 ending was really amazing, but now that I know I have to wait a month to see the next episode is killing me.
Do they ever find the bodies in the back?
