Hey,
I live in Formby, and tonight i'm going out with some buddies from work in Manchester. I'm not that certain whereabouts, but i think most of them live in the Salford area near the Man-U football ground, so my best guess is we'll be going out near there.
It looks like i'm going to have to train it there and stay the night in some travel inn/somebodies flat, but i have no idea how to get there. All i know is that i need to leave from Southport. The various route planners didn't come up with any decent results, I think i might have to change trains or something but i don't know which ones. Anyone know the trains in the area well enough to direct me?
Tl;dr - Southport to Manchester United football ground via train
what a work of art is man, and the most boring choice you can make
Train into Manchester Piccadilly from Southport, takes about an hour, then the bus to Old Trafford - 256, 263, 264 from Piccadilly Gardens - a short walk from the train station. Trains only stop at the football ground on match days, and you really wouldn't want to get on one of them. The Metro has stopped running for the whole of August.

Not necessarily! I'm not the Queen, I just wear a red, sparkly tiara!
