Has anyone heard of "I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBIES 1N IT!!!1"? It's a indie game available on XBL for 80 points. It's like geometry wars, but with zombies and a really catchy theme song.
Well, no false advertising here. :P Not bad for a low-budget Smash TV-type thing. It looks like PSN will be getting a game like that called Dead Nation - I can't say it'll have the same groovy soundtrack as this one, though.
So does the game have an actual GAME OVER ending or does it just kill you automatically as the song ends?
Actually, there are lots of levels. The theme song only plays in the first one. There are other wierd ones that play occasionally. Try the trial, you'll see what I mean.
I picked this up the other day. Had a blast but man it just gets weird after a while. Very frenetic....the graphics really try to hurt you in this game. Lots of weapons to pick up, cool music, CHEAP, 4 player local co=op.
I would pay $5 for online play and leader boards.
This is just a nice one to have in your library when some friends are over and you want to play something fun.
Can indie games have leaderboards and online play? What about achievements? I haven't looked much into indie games.
I did dl this after reading the thread. I had a good laugh. I would rather them not have asteroid and snake levels though. I mean, like the song said, they made a game with zombies....how about using more/different ones?
I kind of downloaded it ironically, but then played it and it turned out to be kind of fantastic. I love how as the game progresses it just gets divorced more and more from reality, to the point where you're scooting about through space fighting abstract symbols as the guy in the song just howls incoherently.

I've already owned it for a few days, its just that despite how many lives I have I'll die just a few seconds before the song really ends.

Guy1: There's nothing bitchin about the games soundtrack. It's practically all elevator music.
Guy2: That's just hilariously stupid. I can't imagine playing a fighting game with "Girl from Ipanema" playing in the background.
seriously the best dollar I've ever spent on live. I managed to get a couple of friends to pick it up as well. if they could ever get some online multiplayer/leaderboards/achievements I would totally pay 5 bucks for it.
A friend recommended this game to me, so I'll be checking it out, but I noticed that this is also from Ska Studios, aka James Silva, aka The Guy Who Made the Dishwasher. A definite buy for me now, I loved Dishwasher to pieces.
The genre is arena shooters, people. Not "like Geometry Wars" or "like Crimsonland" or "like Smash TV." Don't they teach these terms in school anymore?
I am a James Silva fanboy due to Zombie Smashers X2 but now he only releases to the Xbox360, so I can't buy his games until (if) I ever get one of them thar consoles. Oh well.
He has said before that his various XBLIG releases are just little one-offs to bring in some cash between bigger games.
uh what's the difference between this game and crimsonland.
shoot enemies that drop weapons/powerups in a level until you kill enough to get to the next level.

Crimsonland doesn't have an epic theme song with a lunatic screaming, "I MADE A GAME WITH ZOMBIES IN IT!"?
The background sort of morphs into another background as you play. Different backgrounds have different enemies, and the end is just a chaotic mess of all sorts of enemies flying at you from every angle.
But there's no start or end to each "level", you just flow into the next one.

The music is what makes it, though.
My highscore was 713880

800K on first playthrough

Am I blind, or do I not get access to indie games because of what country I live in?
I'm fairly sure we don't get indie games, which sucks.
That was my first thought.

First score was 851,360 although I'll have to call it a night because it broke my brain.
Now I want Crimsonland on XBLA. Which I'm pretty sure is never going to happen because the game is supplied by a shovelware publisher.

Correctamundo.
Come on folks, stay on target...
Your dude can't stand life without that awesome song and just offs himself? That's pretty harsh.
edit - Apparently he's had 50,000 downloads (not sure if that is sales or includes trial downloads) for this: http://skasoftware.wordpress.com/
What's Microsoft's cut on sales? Like 75% or something? That's still a surprising chunk of cash for a joke product.
