I'm starting college Wednesday (Indiana University) and I'm wondering how I go about finding a new group to roleplay with. I'm lucky in that one of the guys I've been playing with since middle school will be living in the same dorm as me, but two guys obviously isn't enough.
I'm going to be looking into the local gaming stores, but I'm interested in what other options there are.
Besides lucking into a group through the random rush of freshmen networking, how do I find a group?

I mean... if you don't want to actually go out and talk to people, that's probably your best bet.
I'm not opposed to talking to people. I'm just wondering what other options there are, since tabletop games are sort of a niche hobby.
And yeah, I was already considering the fliers thing.

Shoot these guys an e-mail. They're probably in the best position to introduce you to the local scene.
(I am awesome at googles /backpat)
You should check with the student union about these things. You can call or visit their help desk in the union (ground/lowest floor by the bowling alley) they usually have people on the desk during normal business hours. http://iub.edu/student/activities/index.shtml#content-list-a-z-r There's the A-Z list, I don't see an RPG group on there but don't worry, there's no way of knowing when this is updated. I'd also search facebook groups too.
I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see people going to IU. Be yourself, seek out people that you like and don't just follow the crowd. IUB is truly a little corner of paradise. I met my and wife there and actually came back to Indiana to get married in Beck chappel on campus. IU will do that to you.
In which dorm are you living? I was an RA for three years so can give any advice you want.
"In addition to the many signature Welcome Week events, including Freshman Induction, CultureFest, Traditions and Spirit of IU and Taste of the Union, students will have three late-night opportunities to mingle with other incoming students: a game night at the Herman B Wells Library featuring video games, board games and food;"
Not the same, I know, but maybe you'll find a few folks there if you ask around. The Wells library is the huge dozen-storey one next to the arboretum, at the corner of 10th street and N. Jordan, across the street from Wright dorm.
I don't know how I feel looking at the IUB webpage, it makes me feel really happy, a little sad, excited, jealous, and yearning all at once.
Please find the time on move-in day to go to Freshman Induction, I know that day will be hot and crazy, but it's so worth it. It just sets up the rest of the year for you. http://events.iu.edu/webevent.cgi?cmd=showevent;eventID=460794;
Be sure to hit up all the other above-mentioned activities. Campus is awash with free clothes, food, prizes, and amazing girls at this time of year. Although the latter is always around - and how.
New plan - trade lives with me for the next 4 years and I'll make sure you get into a bitchin' RPG group.

Although it looks as if they want high-level characters or something.
Okay. I'm done now.
I'm living in Collins, the Smith dorm to be specific.

Gresham dining hall next to Foster (They have these awesome fried things called potato oles from the Mexican counter) and Read traditional (also called the all you can eat, or tradish) has a great range of stuff to eat with different lunch and dinner menus.

Talk to your RA about what's going on during welcome week, they'll often get a group together and walk over to the event.
Fuck, I'm jealous.
I think you're more excited than I am. :P
Yep, I'm well aware of Collins reputation. I did early move in yesterday and they had pasted pictures of Star Wars characters to the dorm doors, each labeled with the names of the people living inside (I'm Clone Trooper Aidan)
