Nintendo Patents Football Controller

I was browsing the interturbes today when I ran across this little tidbit on Nintendo's patent of a football controller for the Wii. It looks terribly unworkable, and as the article describes, it looks like it's ideal for ballet practice. I don't know how they intend to make something like this even function, but it certainly makes for a hilarious patent image.

    This doesn't look any less ridiculous than the number of plastic do nothing peripherals that other companies made. I'm used to it.

    It looks like just another shell that doesn't do anything. The only difference is that this one is slightly squishy. I can't see why they bothered to patent it.
