USB Not Recognized (Laptop-Mouse Issue)

I recently got an Inspiron 15 and have been using a USB mouse for the past week. A few minutes ago the mouse just stopped working. The light still registers that it's receiving power from the laptop and I've checked the USB port with other devices and it's working just fine, but the computer just won't recognize it anymore.

Even after it's unplugged, the computer continues to notify me that the mouse is not recognized, and the system plays the "plug-in/out" sound effects while this happens, over and over. Not rapidly, but a few times a minute.

Any ideas?

THE END.

It's not the mouse...I plugged it into another computer and it worked just fine. I also tried plugging in a different mouse to any of the usb slots and it doesn't work, either.

    This laptop is brand new...

Calling Dell for support, gee, I never would have thought of that, ever.

Restart your computer with the USB plugged in.

they're paid to handle this for you so you don't have to hunt around on the interweb and go through the headache of fixing it yourself. iirc dell computers come with 1 year of free tech support. they're the ones that have to fix this for you.

and honestly, if it's "brand new" i'd be calling to bitch at them anyway.

It's a dell. Dells suck. If you wanted a computer to work you should've bought an acer or really anything but dell.

All the troubleshooting you should have to do is try different mice, which you have done. It's brand new. Call support.
