Fucking bought'ed! Hil-freaking-larious! 2nd mission (crab killin') The rocket drops off my brain android, tips over and crushes my brain. Game Over. I freakin' loved it!
I just discovered that even a heavy infantry with many weapons equipped can overcome gravity by spamming the jetpack button. I think that's because the thrust is greater at the beginning.
You can use the scroll wheel in skirmish mode to sort though the items in the currently selected list from the buy menu.
Also there is a mod Cash for Kills, its a brain you put in your base and you get 100oz for every kill.
Pretty awesome when you really don't feel like mining for gold and want to kill stuff.
I used to use the mod where you can spawn a small hanger that houses respawning MK1 Rockets, so I wcould send wounded soldiers carrying the guns of the dead into them for money.
You bring back painful memories making this thread. I bought this game back when it was still new, and after fiddling with some mods and trying to make the play screen bigger and borking up the background files, I uninstalled and reinstalled, only to find out my registry key won't work because the old game had it registered. So, I bought a game, reinstalled it, and the draconic DRM system refuses to accept my key.

Anyone know how to get my key to work again?
Contact the dev(s), I'm sure a small indie developer like this would be glad to help you out.
The demo is limited to 6 minutes per skirmish? It's tough to get anything going while I'm trying to figure it all out at the same time.
I really want to like this, but I suck at RTS and this adds another layer of action to it. There were times the enemy AI seemed smarter than my AI dummies, or maybe I was just unlucky, but I had trouble with winning the tutorial mode. The enemy would send in Robo-Rambo (Rombo?) and take me out with one guy. Maybe I need to order bigger guns? The crab mission wasn't any better. Sometimes my brain seemed to die for no reason. This game begs for an instant replay feature to see WTF happened. I also frequently lost many trips on the rocket landings. I eventually figured out not to overload it but it still seemed remarkably precarious. I gather from reading here that's part of the appeal...?
The controls feel a tad clunky with keyboard and mouse. I tended to get hung up on objects while moving.
In higher video modes, everything seemed really small, especially the text.
This game has a lot of potential. I'm not sure I'm willing to plunk down $18 for something I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy. Maybe I just need a few pointers to get going.
there's not really any substance to the game. No real multiplayer, and the campaign is just a set of scripted battles you can beat in about three minutes each
if he comes out with a real campaign, it'll be worth a purchase. If he puts online multi in, jesus yes buy it. As it is now, I regret the purchase.
I agree I've never had much luck with the AI of friendly units; I've always had to manually control units to accomplish anything.
As far as the rocket, did you try switching to dropship or dropcrate delivery? The dropship is expensive but more dependable, the crate is cheap and dependable but isn't recovered after it lands.
In the tutorial the AI has two dreadnaught walking tanks which take a lot of shots with an AK-47 to bring down, you could either snipe them from out of their range or buy a heavier gun.
Loading 50 crabs in a rocklet in that dummy assault mission was worth 18 dollars alone. Then my brain exploded for no reason and I lost, but that was some funny shit. Crab bits everywhere.
The AI of rockets is the most hilariously awful thing in the world. I hope they never change it. I just saw a return rocket take off at an angle and impale one of the soldiers it just popped out in mid-air, before flying sideways into a hillside and mercilessly squishing at least two others.

Dangit, Kazhiim, what are you doing? If you're poor, don't make pre-release purchases of indie games to support the developer so he can finish it. You could've put that $18 toward Aquaria to help satisfy your metroidvania craving!
I'm all for supporting indie gaming, but I'd rather see them release a demo that was a fully functioning single level so I can get a better feel for it. Part of my problem was that the game seemed overwhelming at first. There were way too many options for purchases, and you have to just try stuff to get a feel for how it all works. Since you only have 6 minutes, or the AI rapes you once it finds you, then it can be frustrating to get a handle on how to play well. Add to that the buggy play and I felt like I was working hard to see if the game could be any fun.
I suppose this is the wrong forum for this critique but I'm too lazy to register on their forums.
Eh, I dropped 18 bucks on it, really only because in the 6 minutes it gives you it's hard to really get a feel for the game. Whether or not I'll regret it I doubt will matter since it's a pretty hilarious game with a nice sandbox feel to it, but not something I'm going to play religiously for a year either.
the enemy A.I. can be brilliant sometimes, which just makes the shittiness of friendly A.I. that much more boggling. I played a skirmish where my base had a bottomless pit right outside of the brain room, which was opposite of a small room where I put a turret. The enemy dug through the top of the turret room above its arc of fire, and destroyed it with impunity. They then dug from the other side into my brainroom.
I like this game, but I wish my troops controlled better than spaztic marionettes.
Oh yeah, I think the foundation is there from how the physics work and so on, but the friendly AI needs a ton of work. The auto gold minining AI is laughable in how poorly implemented it is. The rocket AI is terrible too, terribly funny.
The gold mining AI usually ends up aiming 45 degrees up and firing, in my experience
Yeah, that was pretty much it for me, too, which is why I easily ran into the 6 minute limit, because you had to micromanage your miners to get any gold in a reasonable amount of time. The digging AI could be improved by simply programming to point the digger in a random direction every 3 seconds. Right now it just picks a direction, quite often empty space, and sticks with it regardless of the results.
I want a mod that makes it so bullet casings don't melt through the earth like the soil is made of butter. It just doesn't make any sense and turns bunkers into swiss cheese.
In no other game will you watch a dropship engine break off of it's housing and crash into a group soldiers causing a shower or shrapnel and flesh and now-unused weapons to spray over your bunkers.

It's like creating a sun, and it starts slowly eating through the ground :P
When you're building a bunker in skirmish mode, how do you get back to the store to buy more stuff?
Right click, then select the rightmost button. I forget what it is called.

Steam Name: Dr.Oblivious
If you can't live for the now, at least live for the future.
Also crab-based WMDs.
Is there anywhere on the internet where I can still read this? I've found precisely 2 strips, and they were attached to a review of the webcomic.
As far as I've been able to tell, the main website is dead and gone.
EDIT: Hmmm, I guess google doesn't show it. Too bad.
yeah it died a few weeks ago finally, the comic has been dead for awhile ago while the creator was at college or something.
It was a great comic though, I was sad when he stopped it.
