Too many inputs?

My laptop is set up like a desktop, and this problem is intermittent (although my keyboard has already "dropped" 3 letters), but sometimes my various inputs just don't register. My wireless keyboard frequently drops key presses, which just ruins my typing flow, especially when coding. My wireless mouse sometimes won't register clicks, or it might pick them up as double clicks.

The wireless mouse is a plain USB logitech, not the one that came with the keyboard. I've also frequently got an xbox controller or wacom tablet (in addition to the built in trackpad/keyboard of the laptop). I've tried re-syncing the keyboard (with the wireless mouse switched off), but it never works for long. The wireless mouse that comes with the keyboard has no batteries in it, and I don't use it.

Any ideas what I can do to make my keyboard and mouse more responsive?

Those both sound like battery issues, although on wireless keyboards the battery use should be so tiny you almost never notice it. Does changing batteries help the problem at all?

No, I tried that. Moving the receiver closer seems to help, but it's a difference of maybe a foot and a half.

If you're using it as a desktop, anyhow, have you considered changing to a wired keyboard and mouse?

I can't give up my wireless mouse, but I'm not too attached to the wireless keyboard, so I might end up doing that. It's a standard black MS set, and the keys are too loud and hard to see when the lights are off, plus I'm not crazy about the Function key toggle or the way the home/pageup/insert keys are set up.

I don't think I ever realized how much I hate that keyboard. The generic Dell keyboard here at work is so much better.
