My ex girlfriend left me and took my DS :(

After I broke up with my girlfriend, I couldn't find my DS. I thought I had left it at my parents' place, but it's not there. So i'm pretty sure she has it; it's not worth trying to get it back from her, as long as I can find a replacement on the cheap. Does anyone have advice for buying one used or from a discount retailer? I want my new GF to try Layton, but I can't help but feel i'm setting myself up for the same thing again in a few years... What's the lowest I could expect to spend on a fully-functioning unit? :winky:

I make OK money, but I just started, I pay a lot of taxes, am trying to pay off $150k in student loans, save for a house, help my parents out with their mortgage, and save money because ITE who knows how long we'll have jobs?
Yep, I vote for a quick call/text/email asking if she had seen it around anywhere after you two were no longer together. No "you stolz it bitch!" but more of a "Hey, did you happen to see my DS anywhere? I'm worried I may have left it at your place before we broke up and didn't think to grab it til now"
I think the old school refurbished "phat" retails used around $70, with the lite at $100 at ebgames. If you cruse ebay and craigslist you could probably find cheaper.
Both myself and my partner have old our own "phat" DS bought used from gamestop. No problems in 2+ years of use.

I have no help or advice to offer, but "ITE" is the best new acronym I've heard in a while. lol
If it hasn't been stressed enough yet; DON'T GET CONFRONTATIONAL. You didn't mention anything about a violent or angry breakup, so even if you two are avoiding each other as per usual breakup standards, it's not out of reach to say "So hey, I was just calling to see if I left my DS there. Yes? Okay, I'll swing by sometime to pick it up. How's things lately?' etc etc.
I've never been one to burn my bridges, unless the bitch was so bitchy that it was deemed necessary to burn the bridge with her on it.

i think the interesting b-story to this plot is that there's already a new girlfriend.
Does she had a DS he can take?
Kidding, polite txt or phone call. As long as she isn't crazy she should say sure, and most likely meet you at the door DS in hand. As an upside, if you have something of hers, you can trade.

"What are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Batman!"
I know cost factors into it but haveing a system that is future proof might be better then finding out there is some Awesome DSi ware you have to buy later.
But more seriously, DS lites seem to run just south of $90-100, thanks to all the great support--you can find something a little less on craigslist or something if you are willing to go through the hassle. At this point, I see no reason to really buy a DSi, but I also can't see why not plan for the future for an extra couple bucks.

that bitch stole your DS, call her out on it

I have to admit, I had to think for a second, even with the context staring me in the face.
Anyways, just text her and say:
"Hey, I think I left my DS at your place. Can I search for it, it's won't take long."
