Question about pets

Hey all,

I have two pet rats who I raised to be almost like kittens. They follow me around listen to commands etc. However one has become extremely sick and can hardly walk and looks like its dieing. I was recently sick and I was curious is it possible for rats or any animal to become sick with bronchitis or things of that nature?

If you call a vet, they would probably be willing to ask a question as simple as "is it possible for me to have gotten my rat sick?" over the phone.

How old are they? Rats don't live all that long I'm afraid, and as any rodent gets older they get prone to pneumonia and various lung ailments. Take em to a vet, it shouldn't cost much to get a diagnosis and if it's something cheap to fix, all the better.

Take it to a vet immediately. Rats are hardy creatures, but when they do get sick there's a very good chance they won't make it. I've had one that seemed lethargic one morning and was dead by that afternoon (poor Zoe... :( ).

There probably won't be much the vet can do, probably an antibiotic if anything, but at least it's something.

Yes, I have had rats pretty much since I was little. They have a lifespan of about 3-5 years at most. Just never saw one get sick like this, its almost like it caught what I did.

    Sorry. :(

I had many a hamster, so know how much fun pet rodents are.
