Economic simulation video games?

Pretty much what the title says. I'm looking for stuff along the lines of Europa Universalis, though with a bit more emphasis on economics.

While I prefer games set in the past, any time period will do.

Thanks!

Haven't played that game, but it seems to me you're looking for something in Sid Meier's Civilization series.

Yes I've played those, I'm just looking for something a lot deeper.

I've heard good things about Dawn of Discovery (or Anno <some numbers> outside of the US), but I don't particularly like it. The newest Settlers is decent.

Hinterland is pretty fun, if poorly reviewed.

How is the DS version of that game? I think it was called Anno 1700 or something.

It's not quite along the lines of Europa Universalis, but Tropico is great ($15 on Steam for it, the expansion, and the sequel).
