(CNN) – A day after heckling President Obama during his address to a joint session of Congress, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-South Carolina, said Thursday that he regretted the outburst, but stood by his belief that Obama had misrepresented elements of the health care bills.
"I truly had to speak out," Wilson said of his decision to shout out: "You lie!" during Obama's speech after the president proclaimed that illegal immigrants would not be covered under Democratic health care reform proposals.
"I didn't snap either, because if I'd snapped I would have kept on objecting," the congressman said. "But I didn't."
Asked if he regretted his comment, Wilson said, "Oh, yeah I wouldn't do that – I wouldn't have planned it or done it again."
Wilson said the proper way to respond to Obama's remarks would have been to hold a news conference after the address.
"People know that I am respectful of the president. I'm respectful of the office of the presidency. But I am just very passionate about the issues that I believe in and I know what was stated was inaccurate."
During the interview, Wilson described the language in two House bills crafted primarily by Democrats as "feel good wording about illegal aliens. It has no true enforcement capability, no meaning."
As to whether he should be reprimanded by his fellow House colleagues, Wilson noted that he immediately apologized. The congressman added that he didn't mean to interfere with the president's speech.
And even though he took exception with parts of Obama's speech, Wilson praised the president's closing of it.
"The conclusion of the speech was actually inspiring," he said. "As the speech went on, from my perspective, it got better."
Wilson made his comments Thursday evening during an interview with Columbia, South Carolina radio station 560 WVOC-AM.
Oh you guys are talking about that video where the guy who fails at jumping in the water. That video was pretty unsettling for me. I usually think I'm pretty desensitized but that video unsettled me quite a bit. I thought about it for days after seeing it.
It is worse than that video Doc posted a while ago of those maggot things inside that nose? Because that was probably my limit.
Depends. Which do you find worse?
Maggots writhing underneath some flimsy skin and bone or a man's face split in two like a venus fly trap with blood pouring out of his smashed-in face, after a fall that has actually carved his jaw bone into two halves?

Yeah I'll give this one a miss I think. Because... well... fuck.
i once saw a dude whose face was straight blown up looking
it kind of looked like he had taken a cheese grater to his face
I can't really describe it, but ever since i saw it nothing has shocked me
it was the ultimate shock image
Oh was that the one where you can see doctors inserting breathing tubes and such into one of the meaty caverns on his ground up head you assume to be his trachea?
I didn't watch the video but they can't tube him if his airway isn't clear otherwise he'll aspirate on blood be in a shitload of trouble. You also can't use a Nasal airway with any type of head injury due to the chance of going through the sinus and into the brain.

I'm not really convinced the two videos are related, though. I mean, they could be, but the second half of that video appeared on the internet earlier than the fall video, and the title of the video regarded some unrelated injury.
Interesting point made earlier about that injury video. Would blunt force trauma really carve a dude's face in half like that? In fact, what would? I'll ask my pops. As a forensic pathologist he'd seen what all sorts of shit can do to the human body. It also meant he could obliterate my suspension of disbelief for basically 80% of movies/shows with graphic violence in it.
Who knows if that particular video is real or not, though. After all, I know special effects/makeup guys that LOVE to make shit like that for fun and portfolios.
I like that Wilson is crying out that he's being muzzled...as if he hasn't had a pack of reporters following him around ever since his outburst, yesterday.
Youtube has such a horrendous comment system. I realize that the comments themselves are pretty horrid, but when I (very rarely) do post a comment, it's like it just gets swallowed up in this void.
Hey I knew those 2 dots that popped up first in 2003 in tal'afar (to the left of mosul)
I once showed this to a veteran and he broke down in tears because he told me he watched the clock and saw 3 ticks in one day and knew that those were his men.

I guess if he yelled "Get a rope!" that would count as snaping. Maybe.
Depends. Which do you find worse?

it was weird because the scene seemed perfectly normal except that dudes face
and it definitely wasn't a 'shop
I am truly very sorry for my outburst, as evidenced by my apparent scriptreading tone of voice.
It was inconsiderate and -
<_<
- inappropriate of me to act in such a way.
i wasn't aware it was possible to survive that kind of injury

When I read "split open" I imagine a deep cut or something. This is like "I split open a watermelon" type split open.
edit: yeah it looks like a 90s porn website.
I've just found something even more incredible. (LINK REMOVED)[/URL]

it's pretty gross but man you guys I was expecting a lot worse from the reactions
