Does anybody else remember Obbi? or was he just linksville? That was back in my day under the name "Lawson," I changed when my account got screwed up somehow, I think I accidentally changed the password or something. I can't remember.

I am here every day lurking. If you PM me (except for the holidays, I am leaving for home and won't be back until monday night as of about 20 minutes from now) I am almost guaranteed to respond within a couple of hours.

I just don't post much because I work a lot and I pretty much feel as if I'm not really part of the crowd anymore. That's not said in an emo woe is me way, it's just a matter of fact statement about the current state of affairs.

Linksville just was too often NSFW. I think that was it's main problem. I don't think it should be considered a problem if things were labeled properly (they mostly were.) but it is, and for that reason, a sub forum devoted to internet shenanigans isn't the best idea.

After the new years', if they follow through with getting rid of all the megathreads, that's be my cue to leave and find a new community. Or maybe just focus on my girlfriend...

I think the main problem with Penny Arcade is that the faces are changing. People grow up, lose interest in geek culture, and move on. Don't misunderstand. I'm not saying geek culture is for children. I've become more of a geek since I became a grown working adult, I just find myself talking about it with other geeks less.


When I first joined the internets back in the mid 90's, I was heavily into IRC. Then forums took over, because even though it didn't provide real time communication, it still provided a sense of community that IRC didn't always have.

Now, staring down the barrel of turning 24, being comfortable in my career, I've returned to my habits of IRC. It's not much of a COMMUNITY, but it's a lot more personable. Also, less mod bickering. Are outsiders less welcome? Of course. But if you stick it out, you'll never find a more loyal group of people on the intertube.

On a side note, is the ventrillo server still around?

Probably the best time I had with PA was on the vent server. The original vent goons were fucking awesome.

Me, Kilgore, Captain K, OBL, and MA17 had some good times.

I remember mostly because he temp-banned me for making a joke about PSP "homebrew" just being emulated Nintendo games.

Edit: Although to be fair to him, he apparently thought I owned a PSP and was making an earnest statement.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask since I was with the legions of haters, but it's only mentioned in passing jokingly now.

I actually really love 360 arcadians. Plus their podcast is fun (if sometimes idiotic.) Oh, but you problably need a 360. The Arcade Time forgot is too dead for me (but I haven't checked there recently.)
