For last three years Warren Spector's (Ultima Underworld, Deus Ex, Thief) Junction Point has been working on secret Disney project. Today chunk of the game's concept art was leaked to the net by Superannuation blog. The project has code-name "Epic Mickey", and by doing some cross-referring, NeoGaf was able to find artist Tony Pullham's CV. Pullham is responsible for the concept art, and his CV confirms that the project is for Wii. Not really surprising considering how Disney tries to widest audience possible.
I've been watching people flip out on GAF over this, and while the concept art is beautiful, it's important to remember that a lot of concept art is gorgeous and doesn't necessarily mean the game will end up exactly like that. Though that whale/Epcot center one is stunning. I'm still amazed Disney has signed off on something like this.
BTW, Spector did confirm two months ago in Gamasutra's interview that their secret project was chugging along nicely, so the game isn't cancelled or anything.

I've been drooling over this concept art all morning. Every single time I look at it my first thought is "This looks AMAZING!" followed by "HOW did they get disney to approve this?!?"
I REALLY want this to come out, but I keep getting the feeling it will end up nothing like the art we've seen. Disney is notorius for being fiercely protective of their image and the way their characters are portrayed.
It would be neat if this had a kind of Out of This World approach to it—like, your character somehow ends up in this abandoned, humanless world, and you have to figure out what happened and how to get back. No real character dialogue, just interaction with silent automatons or robots that spit out distorted Disney sound bites.
That zombie Goofy looking thing is terrifying in the image, but I could also see it as kind of sad-looking if put in the right context. Kind of like the whole Destroyed Beauty thing Gears of War goes for, just without all of the meatheads.
EDIT: I want to say "Fragile" too, but I don't know much about the game.
Could you just feck off? Xbox 360 audience has very well proven that it has aversion to anything that has either colour or cute characters.
...color? Cute characters? You can't deny this looks like Marcus Fenix Destroys Disneyland. (Which I would probably preorder.)
EDIT: That said, I hope this doesn't end up a No More Heroes/Madworld kind of situation, where because this is a MATURE GAME FOR MATURE GAMERS on the Wii, the developers feel they have to ratchet up the EXTREEEME to 11. I guarantee Disney will never let that happen, but I fear that's what a lot of gamers are going to expect from this concept art leak.
Honestly, first thing I thought for some reason when I clicked this was "Wall Street Executive gets Dateraped and HARD". Can't say I'm dissipointed, though.
Can you explain this statement beyond reaching past your sigmoid colon for the stankiest shit you could fling?
From what we know about sales charts, Xbox 360 audience doesn't really care for either JRPGs or platformers. Everything from Tales of Vesperia to Banjo-Kazooie and Katamari Damacy has been badly underperforming.
I have a 360, and I want this game. No, and you're a jerk.
Then buy Wii. Xbox 360 owners are always making fun of Wii owners when they complain about games not reaching their platform. When opposite happens, they are suddenly so offended.
Some games are exclusive to some consoles. It happens. Wiis are cheap.

I wonder if the Disney execs have even seen the concept art for this yet.
Disney exec: "Thanks for coming Mr. Spector, we're all very excited to see what you've got planned for Epic Mickey. You see, over fifty years ago, Walt Disney had a dream, and that dream was to share happiness with almost all the children of the w-OH Jesus CHRIST! What in the hell have you done to Goofy?!

And from what I have heard, Disney is aiming this thing as a "Disney Princess" type brand for boys. Basically Disney is aware that it hasn't been able to make boys interested enough about its characters.

while you're busy making generalities about groups of people (and how much money they have), I'm going to say that it's usually the hardware and extra development time that governs which game reaches what console and note that it's usually much easier to convert one to the other, and leave it at that.

Let's just hope it actually comes out.

But damn the art is beautiful.

Because a lot of the time I leak like this before a games confirmation means it's been canned.
Which would be terrible.

Spector said two months ago in Gamasutra interview that the project was chugging along nicely. And artist is still at Junction Point.

That's a hilarious name for pretty much anything, but especially this.

I like the concept art. Not really getting my hopes on how they'll translate it to a great game, but it piqued my interest for sure.
So has the audience on the Wii.
JRPGs didn't exactly sell millions on the PS2 either. 500K for a JRPG on the 360 is impressive.
But that's neither here nor there.
This?
THIS?
This is shit hot, and not a spike haired plucky young shemale protagonist to be seen.
That said it looks beautiful. I really hope it's still coming along, I am interested like crazy. Robo Zombie Goofy just looks creepy as heck.

You don't already do that? :winky:
But seriously. I want to say bought'd, but really: so bought'd as long as it feels dark.
edit: Also let's not make this about that.
Burton wishes he could come up with an art style like this.
E...Epcot...no...
please leave."
Spector: "But you haven't even seen Minnie yet
...
she's a mecha-Drider"
Disney Exec: "LEAVE NOW!"
And from what I have heard, Disney is aiming this thing as a "Disney Princess" type brand for boys. Basically Disney is aware that it hasn't been able to make boys interested enough about its characters.
Seriously, this is incredible, if this comes out well, I may get a wii b4 a PS3

You did see Big Fish and The Nightmare Before Christmas right?
This so far looks about as wacked out as some of his concepts have been.

Same goes for other camp too. And let's remember your first post: "Not for bloody Wii". That is both obnoxious and rude.
