The fog around the Creature had finally disappated, and the beast could seen for the first time. Cael felt a need to figure out what the dread creature was, but first things first. Cael cleared his throat and mentally checked out the pronounciation before addressing the Creature. His lips moved as if he were saying something but no one would have heard anything, save the Creature. But it seemed that whatever Cael had to say didn't affect the beast.
Sighing over his inability to land anything substantial yet, Cael moved back around the fountain. As he moved he tried to rake his memory for anything about the thing that they faced.

The creature, blood cascading down its face, one eye swollen shut, reaches out and shoves Felix--hard. The decorative railing around the rooftop gives way--how long he falls for, he does not know. The creature turns to face the others with a roar that suddenly dies off--as it falls asleep on the ruined floor...
Maril wastes no time in marching across the rooftop and hacking away at the creature's head. "Come on, get him while he's down!" she cries, blood across her face eerily reminiscent of the creature's now.
Meanwhile, on the streets of Sharn...
THUD. Felix hits the pavement and groans as lights dance and sparkle before his eyes. He slowly, gingerly picks himself up and shakes himself off. He can just glimpse where he came from--and the decorative gargoyles in this area could well help him climb his way back up. Of course, he thinks to himself, he could just walk up--if he could figure out where the hell he's landed.
Though beat to hell, Felix has clung to life throughout the fall and now stands somewhere in Sharn below the tower. An Athletics check can be made to climb up the tower back to where he just was--but it's going to be a hard climb (DC 20). Alternately, he can attempt to find his way back up through the streets and back staircases of the city (two Streetwise checks at DC 13 each).

Giving support to the warlock, Jeanne lets loose another deadly blast of magical energy, colored with the necrotic taint of her weapon. "I like it!"
Move: to T6
Standard: Magic Weapon! (1d20+9=29)
Crit gives me 14, and... Crit damage! (1d6=4) extra necrotic damage! Also, Cael gets +1 to attack and +2 to damage until the end of his next turn.
Minor: I think I'm good. 18 damage to the monster, the -2 AC state now ends.
Wyn's heart is beating at a million miles an hour when the creature drops to the floor in a heap, and she puts the surge of adrenaline to work. With two whip-like swings of her arm, she looses two bursts of crackling fire toward the monstrosity; the first simply pops against its skin with a harmless "paff", but the second connects so forcefully it physically slides the creature along the ground, leaving it perilously close to the edge...
"Push it off! Push it off!" she shouts, flailing her arms in a desperate gesture towards the fighters up at the front line.

Felix slowly gets up to his feet and picks up his weapon. He looks around and sees many confused faces staring back at him. Seeing that there where no serious injuries to himself he turned to the closest citizen and asked, "Quickly I need to get back to the balcony I just fell from, there is some sort of creature there and it could seriously hurt my friends."
The man he turned to look at Felix with shocked silence and simply pointed at a staircase. With a nod of thanks Felix sprinted up the steps determined to find his way back up.
Cael fired off a blast of cold eldritch energy towards the creature, but the blast went wide. Starting to grow even more frustrated with his inability to hurt the thing, Cael gritted his teeth and attempted to redouble his efforts. Drawing up from his reserves, he shot out another blast of arcane energy. Apparantly the fight was starting to take its toll and the blast dissapated before hitting the creature. At that moment, Cael realized that maybe he should have spent more time on honing his skills in the intervening four years. Furthermore, he swear that he felt his patron almost starting laughing at him. At least that's what he thought it was, it was hard to tell with otherworldling beings.

Lightning crackles across Jeanne's armor as she looks at the slumped over-bleeding creature, poised on the edge of the rooftop. "Get out of my party, demon." Thunder rolls as her fist slams into the creature, sending it toppling over the edge, much like Felix did earlier.
Thundering Armor: 1d20+517
And pushed off the edge for extra insult. Victory!
Wyn hesitates a few moments, fully expecting to see the thing clamber up back onto the balcony, but when it doesn't she lowers her guard and slips her orb back into its pouch on her hip. Shuffling up beside Jeanne, she peers down over the side of the railing - assuming it didn't hit that sidewalk where Felix had landed, it was a looong way down.
Cael watches as the creature flies off of the balcony and tumbles downward. It was a pity, since now it would be much harder for him to get a closer look at the thing. His curiosity was definately piqued by both the appearance and the nature of the thing. However, despite all of that, he was more than glad for the abominable beast to be finished. This was a long and drawn out fight; one which he feared he hadn't contributed all that much to the beast's nature and the nature of the fog that first surrounded it.
"It's most likely to be dead. Right before taking its plunge, its condition was rather rugged and I doubt it could survive a fall from this height. Although the circumstances around its appearance are still in question, so anything could still be possible," Cael half-answered Wyn's question.

From far below, there at last comes a loud crash. A plume of grey mist wafts up over the city, and for a moment, the wind catches it.
The symbol from the Tower of Scars sits in the air, formed by the negative space in the smoke. It hangs in the air, and is gone.
Below, Felix has finally struggled his way back to the bottom of the stairs. The guests all stand around, looking back up the stairs warily. One of them spots him and points to him, and the others start slapping him on the back and congratulating him. By the time he's reached the top of the stairs and rejoined his allies, he's gained a small amount of coinage.
ir'Gadden reappears with an officer of the Watch, who seems more than a little stunned by the wrecked party and your general condition. "Where the hell did that thing come from?" he asks.
150 XP apiece for defeating the creature.
BONUS OBJECTIVE COMPLETED: Life of the Party: Have at least one innocent bystander left alive at the end of the encounter. (12*10)/5 = 24 XP apiece.
Everyone also gets 8 GP. The partygoers want to express their gratitude, but it's Sharn. If they shelled out for every adventurer that did something nice for them, they'd never get to go to any parties.
Felix stood at the tops of the stairs trying to catch his breath. The attack from the creature, the fall from the balcony, and the journey through the city to get back to where his allies where really took it's number on him. Tomorrow morning when Felix would wake up, if he was able to get out of bed it would be considered a miracle. For now though there was work to be done.
He walks over to where his friends are and hands them there share of the money given to him from the bystanders.
"Gifts from those whom we helped protect," as he handed out the last bit of coinage he looked to ir'Gadden. "I have no idea where that thing came from but I would think it best if we find out quickly. We have no idea if more of those things are on their way."
Felix will spend 4 healing surges, bringing him up to 25/27 hp and he has spent 5/8 surges today.
That fight really kicked his ass.

Jeanne sighed, taking a seat on the edge of the fountain. "Whatever it was, it has a connection to what we did at the Tower of Scars. That mark proves it. So I'm with you, Felix. Let's find where this beast came from."

The Mark of Prophecy Chapter 4: Look's Like...The Party's Over (YEEEEEAAAAH)
The Watchman leaves after a few moments, clearly finding the graft potential in the case lacking. You eventually say your goodbyes to ir'Gadden, and leave him to clean up the mess as you head back down to the streets.
Where did it come from? Where did it go? And what was its connection to the Mark of Prophecy that you saw so long ago?
Without saying a word, Felix begins searching the balcony area as well as where he saw the creature arrive from to search for any clues left by the creature.

It's all so clear to Jeanne. The creature, wherever it came from, certainly didn't come from Sharn. It had to have been summoned from somewhere else. If only she could focus...and try to find the beacon...

If it was summoned, Felix thinks, then it wasn't around here. A giant ape-demon in this part of town would have attracted more attention. It must have come from further below...
Wyn drops to her knees in front of the balcony and leans in to examine the clump of fur at eye-level. She squints and chews at the inside of her cheek, thinking back to all the time she spent at Morgrave. Did she learn about anything like this there? If not in class, then surely at least once, when she snuck into that weird section of the library...
While the others are bent over the clump of fur, Cael moves a little further along the balcony. Pressing his hands onto the railing for support, Cael leans a little ways over to get a better view. Cael squinted his eyes slightly as he surveyed what he could of the crowd. If the creature had been summoned then it might stand to reason that its summoner might be close by, or there might be someone sent to report on the creature's mayhem.
Streetwise Check: 1d20+4 = (16) Guess I'm kind of assuming that we're sharing information, otherwise that might be a little too meta of a post
As the others figured out the meaning behind any clues they found, Felix looked for more for the others to interpret, all the the while trying to find a way to connect the clues together.

All clues seem to point downards: more and more clumps of fur, claw marks on windowsills and atop wagons that have otherwise gone unnoticed--one pair of Orien wagon drivers are scratching their heads beside a cart with one long claw-mark running down the side proved particularly helpful, providing Cael with confirmation tha the creature did indeed pass through, going fast enough to run up the side of their cart like a Marches acrobat. For the moment, the trail seems to have gone cold for those magically sensitive among your number--all they have deduced is that the creature certainly wasn't summoned into the immediate area. Felix, feeling hot on the trail, turns a corner into an alley between buildings. A clutch of rough-looking halflings glance up from a pedal-operated knife sharpener, sparks flying across the small space.
That, he thinks, was probably the wrong way. You all turn and head back the way you came, but you can feel eyes on your backs as you move.
No further successes can be gained via Arcana or Insight until more information has been gleaned. (For the record, the previous Insight check did not count as a failure.)
The group was making progress following the path left by the creature. Unfortunately, the trail was starting to get a little cold. Cael was on the verge of getting frustrated, but he knew he might take more risks or miss something if he allowed that emotion to take over. Cael looked for a group of people to try and listen in on for something about the creature. He didn't see how this creature could make its way through the city without someone seeing something.

A group of gnomes arguing about what the creature said and a shopkeeper excitedly describing the creature to a neighbor continue to guide the group out of the upper city and down into the middle tiers.
The Middle City is Wyn's stomping ground, so she knows just how to talk to people to get what she wants. With speechcraft that would make any politician proud, she chats up the first person she sees who looks like they have their wits about them, hoping to glean something useful.

Wyn soon finds a clutch of students out looking for a new Riedran "Carry-Out" place that's supposed to have opened up in the area. After some conversation, they point her further down a complicated maze of alleys that eventually emerges into a small square of chapels dedicated to the various deities of the Host. A huge tuft of fur sits atop the tip of Dol Arrah's halberd, which points the way out of the square and further into a residential district.
After having nearly mislead the group on their search, Felix clears his mind of all distractions and intesnifies his searching for clues.
For now I should focus on finding clues. Only until we can't find anymore should we try to piece together what they mean. Until then following this beasts trail is our best option.

The Mark of Prophecy Chapter Five: Don't Be a Menace to South Menthis (While Adventuring Around in the Hood)
Jeanne opens her eyes, blinking as if stepping into the sun for the first time. It was hard to find up at the tops of the towers, but here, it seems impossible to miss.
So this was it. This was the place from which the creature came from or, at the very least, where it was summoned. Cael drew a slight amount of satisfaction at having been able to track down the creature and discovering its whereabout and possible origin. But satisfaction was soon replaced with the grim reality that they would have to enter the domicile and most likely will have to face that creature again. Given his dismal performance earlier in the day, he wasn't too enthused to fight it again. Cael mentally checked the abilities enparted to him, the connection to his patron, and anything else he could think of. He turned around to the others and waited to see whether they were ready.
All the while, he tried to see if he could remember anything about the Blacktree name.
So this is where that demon came from. We might as well investigate on what or who is inside.
Seeing the open door, Felix tries to take advantage by moving to the side of the door, careful to make sure that he would not be seen or heard by anyone inside and close to the doorway. Once at the doorway he tried to listen in to see if there was any form of activity going on inside.

Cael searches his memory, running a finger through the carved nameplate. A merchant family, he recalls, dealing in the import and export of certain plants from within the King's Forest. They sent a daughter off to the war--acting as an aide-de-camp for a Brelish lord. She'd come back different, the high society whisperers had said, but few knew the truth of what had happened to Arica Blacktree.
Meanwhile, Felix pokes his head inside the door and is struck by two scents: one musky and animal, like a wet dog drying, and one tangy and chemical. A grey wisp of fog floats by, marking this as the place where the creature originated from. The door leads to a large outer room. A small form leans against the wall. "Schuk, is that you?" it growls.
