* BBC Mobile - Not an iphone app as such, but the BBC has a large amount of its content available online for mobile devices like the news, weather, iplayer (think hulu but on your iphone)
* Google mobile - Again, not an app itself but all of Googles mobile stuff is pretty fantastic

Not a very original list but geared is furiatingly addictive. I like tweetdeck for an occasional blast of stephen fry and david mitchell, and the others pretty much speak for themselves.
- PandoraBox and BargainBin: They list apps on sale and create your own wish lists; BargainBin has Push with 3.0, so it'll give you a message when an app you've marked drops in price.
- AccelaStudy GRE Vocab: Been using to study for my GREs and it's a godsend at $6.99. 600 common GRE vocab words, can break them into different study sets, has a few different ways to quiz yourself (basic flash cards, definition quiz, tiered definition quiz that lets you rank words from Easiest to Hardest).
- NYC Subway Map: Free, and it's just a simple picture with Manhattan subway lines and stops.
- PhoneFlicks: Manages Netflix queue for free.
- TweetDeck: I'm considering switching to Twitterific, but TweetDeck has been sufficient enough, since I only follow people and don't really post my own stuff.
If you're looking for games, I highly suggest:
- Space Invaders Infinity Gene: $4.99 now, shit-hot trance-electronica shoot-'em-up, tons of unlockables, also can generate stages based on your music library.
- GeoDefense Swarm: Only 99 cents, just got released. I don't even like Tower Defense games that much, but I like this a lot. Geometry Wars-inspired aesthetics, you create your own paths with towers instead of a fixed path.
- Peggle: It's fucking Peggle.
- Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor: Made by an indie studio headed by a few of the guys who made some of the Thief games. On the surface it's a puzzle-platformer that has you as a spider catching bugs, but there's a really intriguing mystery storyline that's entirely optional and only made available through the backdrops and scenes you discover.
- Civilization Revolution: I think it's $4.99 now, though it's been as low as $2.99. It's a really well-done version of Civ. I think it's based on the DS version and costs about one-fifth of the price.
