Glass Handed Kites is my favorite album. it kinds of reminds me of slightly shoegazy/progy Disintegration-era Cure, which might or might not sound appealing (and might be a terrible description)
their older stuff is good, but for the most part not their best
they have a new album out which I haven't listened to enough to give an opinion on
Ha, so much of my childhood is typified by me playing Super Mario brothers and Mario Brothers 2. I remember really liking the roots that turned into spaceships as well.
man, most of the time I really don't care how action-packed and special effects-filled whatever the newest release is. if it looks like a bad movie I usually have no interest in it
but god damn, that was pretty exciting
the only question is whether popcorn-munching scenes like that will make up for the inevitable groan-inducing parts where they pander to the youtube commenters with the whole "omg mayan calendar 2012" thing
(I'm assuming they'll have those. I don't actually know, but it seems like a reasonable assumption.)

just "SHIT IS GOING DOWN" with no explanation, the movie equivilant of Marcus Fenix finding a concentration camp run by the world government where the Locust were created, and saying "who cares let's go HOGGIN'"
Watching that only filled me with nerd continuity rage. None of it made any sense to me... yeah I suppose I don't know what the end of the world is gonna look like, but I actually LAUGHED when the fault line was kind enough to follow RIGHT behind the limo & airplane. Such a polite fault line, no?
I COULD watch 2012 as a sort of meta-parody of disaster movies, but y'all know someone is gonna make a 2012 suicide cult after watching this, right? *sighs*

The "fact" that the Mayans believed in a global apocalypse in 2012 is also a complete fallacy. It's the end of the baktun calender. They had plenty of events predicted past 2012.
But this is a movie where you're clearly meant to check your brain at the door.
I just really don't want to think about how much money was put into this thing.
i'll go see it for 3 dollars at the Student Union Building and will give a trip report after to determine if you guys really want to pay the 12.50 for it how does that sound
