See, I saw this comic and was immediately thought it was about Fate.
But then, Fate strikes me as knock off game, I don't know of what exactly but I just get that feeling.
But then, Fate came out years ago, so then having an animal trained to haggle with merchants back in civilization must be more common a thing that I ever would have thought.
And upon doing some research, I find that Explore-an-infinite-dungeon-just-outside-a-town-with-your-faithful-companion is basically a sub-genre, like Nicholas-Cage-sees-the-future movies.
They are both pretty honest. Actually, wait, I can kind of see this argument. A dog might sometimes do stuff he's not supposed to do and try to hide it. A cat will never exhibit that behavior because cats do not feel that you are in charge of them, so pretty much whatever they feel like doing is OK to do. There is no need to lie or sneak when you have carte blanche because you think you own the place.

My DAO character is named "Aria", and her dog's name is "Recit" pronounced "Wreck it".
I'm so clever
:?
I called my dog Gerald because no one ever calls anyone or anything Gerald anymore. Once people start doing that, I'll finally stop calling things Gerald.

Please, someone, start calling things Gerald.
I do not like "Gerald".
My serious character for RPGs is always "Aria"(cause it's a pretty word) or "Alina"(I also like the name and it's a reference to Arvo Part)
However, obviously, if I'm making a less-than-serious character, her name is "Scherzo"

Pantaloons are very important in the Baldur's Gate games, and may continue to be important in Dragon Age and any sequels it might have.
