Can anybody remember how to work out the number of magic items you should be handing out in 3.5e? I can't find it in the SRD and I don't have my books at work

It depends on the wealth by level guidelines, although I can't remember what they're set to. I think level 20 guys get the equivalent of 750,000 gp or something.
How can you not know what Deus Ex Machina means and still be able to spell it?
A force completely unestablished until now imparted me with the knowledge, allowing me to resolve the main struggle of the discussion and come out on top.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a good example of Deus Ex Machina at the end.
I'll have to agree. In retrospect it makes sense that an Avatar of pure heart could do this, but this wasn't established as a possibility. Even if a legend about a giant Lion Turtle was referenced a few times, then it wouldn't necessarily have been DEM. I suppose this is what happens when you have to set aside half a season for dicking around the Fire Nation because the execs were freaked out by the overarching story in Book 2. [/Bitter]

Also if someone is saying the end of Harry Potter was Deus Ex Machina they are wrong
It was very clearly set up if you thought about it, it was just a bullshit cheap way to win.
Unlike Avatar, which came literally out of nowhere.
Exactly.
It may have been some clever rules lawyering which meant Harry didn't have to have an epic duel with Voldemort, but it took everything which had been established about the characters and how magic works and put it to use. DEM would have been Harry suddenly gaining the power to project "Love" as a Kamehameha and disintegrating Voldemort with it.
Arch are going to see the movie? I know it will suck but I think I still might. No 3d though.
Hurghhhh no....I don't think so at least. Funds are a bit tight right now and I can't splurge on a shitty movie. Maybe later this month, but I think the novelty will have worn off by then.

Or Harry's previously unknown and unmentioned uncle showing up and kicking Volemort's ass.

Well you've made one post, so it won't.
I wish I could go back to sleep. Gotta wait for the shopping to arrive first.
I got nine hours last night. So nice. And my cranky mood is finally gone.
No, it doesn't mean having God in a story.
No, it doesn't mean having magic in a story.
No, it doesn't mean an ending you didn't see coming.
No, it doesn't mean an ending you didn't like.
I've never heard it used for the first two of those.
I have, by dumb people, though I can't remember which thread and when.
Atomic Ross in Harry Potter thread related?
When it might have been, but if it was set up earlier in the story it really wasn't.
They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.

Especially if they've got Firefox helping them out.

I assume you mean the Aang/Oezai fight?
Yes, that's the straw that fucked the camel in the ear.
I know it's not right to 'treehouse' but I've taken a sacred vow to not bother talking to Atomic Ross and his ilk.

I'm like Hells naw. We can go see The A-Team if we want a drunk movie night. Or pick up 2012 and just drink at home.
