Wow so... thread resurrection! Glad you guys didn't discount this. I will create a Steam group tonight and put the info in the OP when I get home. I guess first impressions are good?

Those robots really could do with 360 degrees of control on every wheel. The handling feel too finicky otherwise. Didn't the Mars Rovers have that?
Is there a way to remove what feels like mouse smoothing/lag when doing the repairs? The cursor is sluggish for me and it makes it much harder. I don't notice any problems when moving or looking around however.
Like a reactor to activate to keep the station powered. And a prototype reactor to mess with. And a way to screw it all up so you can blow the hell out of the moon to teach Security a lesson about tazing everybody carrying a toolbox. And a way to keep people working on an object so you can gracefully bounce out from a nearby crater and smash somebody's helmet with a toolbox and watch them decompress.

There is a line in the .ini linked above that says mousesmoothing=true. Change that to false and it should fix it I think.
this game is definitely worth the asking price. a couple friends and i had a blast playing a few rounds tonight and i'm sure it won't be the last time i base the moon.

Okay, since Steam was a total goose last night, I just now got the group made.
I think this game conclusively proves what I honestly already knew; my laptop's GPU (Radeon HD 3450 256MB) and UE3 do not get along. At all. I can have a somewhat playable framerate or visual quality above PS1 level, but not both. Uninstalled with a heavy heart. If only it had used Source or something...
Horrendous mouse lag too, as mentioned above; disabling the mouse smoothing in the .ini as mentioned above helped marginally, but nowhere near enough.
Damn shame. It looked like an interesting little game, as you guys have made it out to be.

Whoever decided that it's A-OK to make end-users to rebind their controls by editing an .ini file needs to be dickslapped in the face. What the hell are my tax dollars doing goddamn.
On the other hand, rocking out my childhood fantasies with a lunar buggy is neat fun (bonus points for cutting the cables inadvertently because I didn't know you could do that). It's better than the rover in Mass Effect anyway.
edit: holy balls it's jazz, and without a bloodrayne avatar
I tried this game last night, but could not figure out the welding minigame. I even read the instructions in the help menu and couldn't make sense of it.

Houston, We haev a problem
Exactly like that.
I knew it in my heart.
if its the real moon, then wheres the hookers and blackjack
My Backloggery
Im gonna play with a couple of friends this afternoon.
I mean, it's a free game... if we could get our space station 13 guys this code... imagine...
edit: Also, I need to know: what should the name of the Steam group be?
Well I hadn't played it yet, so...
What are you waiting for, Astronaut?
Get yer ass to tha Moon!
WHALERS ON THE MOON
or...
Wangbase Beta
Oh, and I'm sure the beta version of the game was really confusing. Moonbase: Alpha Beta.
why would we want to go to the moon anyways? so we can watch a guy hop around some more? that is definitely worth millions of dollars.
plus the moon is lame, i vote going to the sun.
Think The Last Starfighter, except with infinitely more dullness and zero lizardman copilots. Until modders get to work, anyway.
I keep seeing the POD 6 reference... POD 6 JERKS?
Seriously... i barely got the oxygen flowing.
Actually, there's the makings of a killer attack/defense game in this.
In WinXP, the config file is:
My Documents\My Games\Moonbase Alpha\MoonBaseAlphaGame\Config\MoonBaseAlphaInput.ini
Add the line "bInvertMouse=True" to the file in the "[Engine.PlayerInput]" section.
My God, it's full of wangs...

it was a lot harder than it looked!

Moony Shot
I reported that post for awesome. Not sure if I'm gonna end up regretting it or not.

This should be right up my alley!
Step 1: Park the rover next to a cable like this. The direction of the cable is important.
Step 2: Pick up the cable.
Step 3: You'll be in the air above the cargo deck.
Some ini settings I've tried:
Reduce mouse lag
OneFrameThreadLag=False
Lower the resolution for weaker GPUs
ResX=###
ResY=###
(Below 800x600 might make text too blurry)
Disable startup movies
Remove:
StartupMovies=UE3_logo
StartupMovies=esrbsplash
SkippableMovies=UE3_logo
SkippableMovies=esrbsplash
in MoonBaseAlphaInput.ini
Enable the console
ConsoleKey=Tilde
TypeKey=Tab
Invert mouse
In the "[Engine.PlayerInput]" section
add the line "bInvertMouse=True"
The 5-6 player map has two rovers! Races maybe?
with the track made out of power conduit!
