But downloading isn't the part that's a crime. And even if it were, that's unenforceable. The burden is not on the watcher to determine whether the program is properly licensed. Only the website is committing a crime here.
Hell, people commit an average of 20 copyright infringements a day.
We have rules about linking to warez on the forums. I once tried to think about how that applied to embedded youtube movies, but then I got a headache and had to lie down.
Yep, I could have linked a lot more movies in the Western thread if I didn't worry about copyright. I did, so that limited it to stuff in the public domain. But there have been other threads posted that had whole episodes of shows posted from Youtube. I can't imagine the headache of making the mods check youtube videos for copyright violations.

Ugh, I've done that as well. There are tons of copyright infringing youtube videos (like an entire show of certain comedians) that probably isn't meant to be there, yet linking any youtube is fine here.
The way I see it is that piracy is only bad if it damages content creators. Seeing how publishing companies already screw content creators over, I have no moral qualms with piracy as I'd be committing the lesser of evils towards the content creator.
Most dice are shit anyway. They get those smooth, rounded edges and corners because they're dipped in paint to get the paint into the dots, then thrown into a rock tumbler with some sand to sand the edges down.
This, of course, makes them unintentionally loaded.
That's why casino dice have these razor-sharp edges, and get replaced daily.
If one were to say migrate to another continent, how easy would it be to transport a dog?
difficult depending on the pl;ace
most 1st world countries require you to put the dog in quarantine for up to several weeks to eliminate the possibility of them being a carrier for diseases

You know what's a much bigger bandwidth suck than peer to peer file swapping?
Those fucking illegal streaming video sites that every high school and college student is in to now. Piracy has gotten a little too hard and a little too risky when the goal is just to watch seasons of a TV show or some movie and you can do that on a site that's sort of like Youtube. That shit is so much more popular than bittorrent at this point.
I have a theory that the only reason they're ridiculously popular is because they don't realise that streaming is equally as illegal as "downloading".
They don't realise that they have to download the stream data to be able to watch it. I've had to tell a lot of my uni friends this, I don't think they fully believe me.

When you buy a car it is the partial responsibility of the purchaser to make sure (within reasonable doubt) that the car is not illegal goods/stolen.
The website/seller isn't the only one committing a crime in the transaction.

As long as we can all agree it should be illegal for comcast to charge me more to access time.com than newsweek.com, I think we agree on the most important aspect of net neutrality.
I'm not sure I agree, actually. I don't think I know enough about how the internet works to form a real opinion on it, really.
The internet is a mesh network. Large companies, ISPs, universities and governments and basically anyone who wants a large amount of access grabs some high-throughput routers and plugs in to a whole bunch of other people already doing the same. Then, when one computer wants to talk to another, like, say, the newsweek.com server wants to send your computer a page, it finds a path through the giant web of interconnects going all the way to you. That page will pass through interconnects belonging to a whole bunch of different people. If one interconnect seems busy, it'll use another. So everyone is paying for everyone else's traffic. And while some interconnects are more difficult to maintain than others (longer, undersea, etc), it all tends to work out because everyone has an interest in traffic going everywhere.

There are many ways to ensure a car is not stolen. Content... not so much. I mean, you usually know that if you're getting something for free that normally costs money or there are no commercials but tons of porn banner ads, then it's probably not legit. But there's no legal apparatus in place.
