Even if watching MLP might be considered childish, why the hell not. I'm 22 and I enjoy lots of very childish things. Men are prone to doing that.
But adamantly going "nuh-hu! Not just for girls!" is hella annoying.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

Nobody is saying it's not a girl's show. Even that Lauren Faust quote says it's a show for girls. But it's also a show that animation fans and parents have the potential to enjoy as well.
I didn't say it was just for girls. I said it was for children, and I don't think it's weird for adults to like it. I think it is weird for adults to like it as much as they do. Its popularity is eerie and bordering on obsessive. That is what bothers me.
I think an important point to note in that post from the creator of the show is that it's a show for kids to watch with their parents.
Kids. With parents.
When you're with a kid, it's understandable to get in their mindset. To relate to them, and see the world through their eyes. You're a great, empathetic parent/babysitter/sibling/whatever. Their wonderment and enthusiasm is infectious, you both get into it, a fun time is had by all. But if you're a man with no kids, sitting around watching what is clearly-and-fully-intended-to-be a kid's show by yourself, you're a man who is behaving like a child. You are a manchild. That is what that word means.
And saying "People like what they like" is arguably the most terrible justification of something ever. EVER.

So everyone quit hatin
We know that. There is no need to be defensive like hell about it.
That's what's getting on my nerves here.

I think it's worth noting that, as much as MLP obsession creeps me out, I kept my rants restricted to another thread.
'Cause no matter how tacky I think a fixation on that show is, I think it's even tackier to go into a thread dedicated to celebrating a thing and dump all over said thing.

People keep saying MLP is made by the creator of Powerpuff Girls, but Craig McCracken is the creator, not Faust.
edit: I haven't watched any of the MLP stuff yet, but I do think the knee jerk reaction to be creeped out by people actually enjoying it is pretty silly. It's made by the creator of Powerpuff Girls, which was an awesome show. Would the same be true of a show made with little boys in mind being enjoyed by older women?
It's just dumb.

oh hey guys ps i am going to start an icarly thread so icarly fans get ready!
I know you're just joshin' around, so this ain't directed at you. Don't worry.
But when I worked my terrible job at an upscale movie theater a while back, I met Miranda Cosgrove in real life. IRL, if you will.
And holy shit, it just made me EVEN MORE OOKED OUT by guys who think she's hot. I mean, in photo shoots or on TV or whatever, I guess it's easy for folks to lose track of her age. But when standing in line for popcorn with an equally-aged friend, gossiping about Lance Bass or whatever it is teenage girls do? Hooooooly shit, she looked like the dang ol' kid she is.

From what I understand Faust is married to Mccracken and has worked on both shows with him.
alright jesus she didn't create it she just was a storyboard artist, writer, director, and supervising director of the series, and was also all those things on Foster's.

Only because you don't play with barbies
To be honest man, I think your opinions are kind of bullshit in this case.
People can like what they want to like, and they shouldn't be called creepy just because it's different from what most other people like.
But adamantly going "nuh-hu! Not just for girls!" is hella annoying.
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.
penis AND boobies??
well sure. I just meant in the general principle of the matter.

There's a reason SA gassed all the pony threads.

If you're thirty-something and you cry with gratitude when reaching the end of the store's line for the latest Harry Potter book, you've got a problem

Top Gear isn't about cars crwth
Top Gear is about Shenanigans
And watching James May be amazing and magnificent
That is how much of it is really about cars any more
I don't think I've seen anyone say that
I've seen them say she worked on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
same

You left out the ".001% incredibly lazy, incredibly lame, incredibly racist jokes about Mexicans."

CARS ARE BUT THEIR METHOD
SHENANIGANS ARE THEIR TRUE GOAL
CAPITAL LETTERS
this is not new
the top gear team are lazily, casually racist and have been since the programmes' conception
