The blockbuster here just closed a few weeks ago. Still a generic video place though.
I know the real reason is redbox and internet renting and piracy. But I'd like to pretend they fell for charging near $10 to rent a game. That shit was like $2.50 when I was a kid. And it's not like grandpas 5 cent candy bars, games cost the same then as now.
they are still a pretty good option for drug dealers
This is literally exactly what I was going to say.

I don't like buying used games or movies from a rental store. Maybe it's just OCD or something, but if I'm gonna bother buying a game or movie, I want it in a real case instead of a case that is blank on the back and has a smaller, copied version of the cover on the front.
Those used movie or game cases just feel dirty, man.

And just when I never thought I would never need a Blockbuster again, it turns out that I need to write an essay on the movie Innerspace that is due tomorrow. I completely forgot about it, and it's not on Netflix streaming. I'm going to see if they have it at the library my girlfriend works at first (they actually have a lot of movies and Wii games you can check out), but I'm guessing I will have to visit Blockbuster in the end.
Why I'm writing an essay on Innerspace for a college class is beyond me.

You fuck wit' Die Antwoord, you fuck wit' da army.
I, too, only use netflix for movies. Stopped going to rental places ages ago. I kinda want to try redbox, but I'm too scared of forgetting to return and getting late fees. Plus, there's usually a line

I went to a Redbox for the first time the other day. When I got there I was disappointed to discover that the machine does not take cash. It's close enough to my house that I felt comfortable going with nothing but a dollar in my pocket, but I decided not to come back with my card that day on principle. Maybe some other time.
In hindsight it's pretty brilliant of them.

Do you have any idea how quickly every movie in that box would be gone and never come back if they took cash?
It's not a move to get you to pay more, it's making they don't go completely out of business overnight because all the movies are gone for good.

And $50 for a game in those days comes out to nearly $100 now due to inflation.

Some of us don't have a digestive system that's made out tissue paper.
That'd be nice, and its supposed to be coming, but they sure are takin' their sweet as time getting it implemented.

while there's still a blockbuster on your block
Let's hope no one figures out how to use rechargable credit cards...
Those types of cards can be distinguished from others when the machine contacts the bank for authorization, I believe.
short answer to this is yes, they can.
