I had the same problem with Bully, which is probably the last game that I really remember really getting into. Your character seemed to need to be incredibly stupid to get him to advance the storyline.

Commander is slow as fuck in general so a 12-mana 3-card combo is not beyond the pale.
But Arivia's right, any instant-speed artifact or enchantment removal kills it. So will Silence or counters or a lot of control cards.

shroud just means the creature can't be targeted by spells or abilities.
The artifact and the aura can both be removed as normal, and mass effects can also cripple or remove it. Creatures can block it as normal.
