Graphics Bugging Out (AC2)

I wasn't sure if Help/Advice would be appropriate, since this seems to be a technical/software related issue, if I'm wrong, I apologize. Anyway, I bought Assassins Creed 2 during the Steam summer sale, but the game is basically unplayable due to some strange bug/incompatibility issue.

I'm playing on an Asus G73JH, with a ATI Mobility HD5870. My drivers are up to date, and I've toyed around with all the graphics setting to no avail, I even tried reinstalling the game. No luck.

I've never had any graphical issues with the laptop so far, so any help would be appreciated.

    That's really weird. And it's only AC2? So not over heating/dying card? Don't see any other incompatibility reports anywhere. Maybe try an older driver?

    Yeah, this has only happened with AC2.
