So I figured this'd be the place to ask this
you know how some people on the forum have avatars that change every time you load the page, so it's not constantly the same one?
I'm not looking to do that with my avatar but I'd like to know how that happens
is there a guide or somesuch that will teach me this

It's not possible anymore because the new forum only allows uploading an avatar, not linking to an offsite one. Some people are still "grandfathered" in.
ergo why I said I'm not looking to do that with my avatar
