EVGA GTX 570 / ASUS P8P67 PRO R3 - video driver crashing

I put together a machine last year with that mobo / videocard combo + an i7 2600k. Everything seemed fine for awhile, then Deus Ex came out and after a week of playing I started noticing some weird graphical glitches. Same thing with Dead Island, and every other 3d game I had. I did some reading and I realized I never actually setup my cpu settings in the bios, I left it all on auto. So I read some more and setup my bios and voltage correctly - that fixed the problem.

Sadly now, many months later, the issue is happening again except this time the nvidia driver is crashing (TDR) with error code 7 (OpenGL communication timing out). Searching around google it seems like this is somewhat common - or at the very least, I'm not the only one experiencing it. It feels like faulty hardware, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I wanted to post this in case any of you have dealt with the same thing and fixed it - or had any thoughts. Thanks.

    Recently, Skyrim has been causing a lot (comparatively) crashing, with occasional artifact crashing immediately after reboot. I only mention it because I'm using a pair of GTX 470 in SLI, which is kind of a related GPU, I think, also from EVGA.

    Well, thank goodness for lifetime warranties.

    hmm, normally you don't have to fiddle with your bios for fsb/multi and voltages unless your OCing so I'm surprised manually changing those fixed your problem last time. The auto mode should set them to the correct settings. Never had them go wrong on me. The Error your getting and artifacts sounds like it points directly to the video card though. Have you tried re-seating it and whats your Power Supply (often overlooked) (nevermind:) )? I've run across a few Vram testers before. Not sure how well they work but let me go look for the links. I'll edit when I got some.

    Edit: On a related not, I have had to RMA factory OC'ed graphics cards before

    Edit 2: Also, if you have multiple pci-e power cables coming off the psu, couldn't hurt to try some different ones just in case.

    Wouldn't be definitive but at least a error in one of these would swing probability to the card being at fault pretty high.

    Yeah, usually visual artifacts points to the graphic card. Monitor the temps on it when you start seeing it and see what they are. My guess would be the card overheating, but it could just be generally going bad.
