ARGH. I had my eye on Infidel as plague victim, but decided against it
I should have done it, knowing that targeting bedlam was overkill, that -if infidel was village, he'd be killed anyways - and that infidel actually didn't seem to care at all who I picked. Not sure if it would have mattered for his VC though?
He couldn't be plagued at all, according to Munkus.
Thank you for running the game Munkus! Kime killed me after I revealed to him hehehe and Obifett had it out for me!
Your ability and the way you described it just seemed sooooo suspicious hahaha.
Yeah, we had two guards, but the coordination it would take to alternate charging and busdrivering would require.... Well, you know, a network. Which we couldn't get until we had the two guards synchronized, etc. So being outed was a death sentence, really.
Thanks for running Munkus! It was fun . Hope you feel better soon!
The game got super fucked up when the vig, who was told that his weapon would be taken by the faction that killed him decided to out himself.
My last game didn't even have guardians.
Kids, this is why you DON'T VIG REVEAL ON DAY ONE WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW ALL THE MECHANICS.
Just so I'm clear on the strategy for what I was facing (being voted off day 1 as the vig), am I supposed to just eat the vote and hope the village survives without me? I mean, I considered doing that, but the majority of games have guardians. I figured I could survive for one night.

Maybe? You were told what happens with your kill, if you had been voted out I wouldn't have had two kills the majority of the game.

If someone else had revealed that Assuran was a guard to the thread, would that have worked?

I took great joy in watching Assuran switch from a mafia target to a different mafia target on day one.
And then switching off a mafia target at the last moment on day two.

They kill him and take his stuff anyway. You always whack an exposed guard.

I meant if someone else revealed him as a vig, could he still get guarded since he didn't out himself?

BTW, I feel pretty decent about my initial targets. Had I just stuck with my gut, I'd have gone two for two. I wavered at the last second on my Skull Man kill day 2.
Hahaha that was an awesome finish well played Infidel. Sorry about the inactivus got invited to the lake by my dad last minute and the girlfriend really wanted to go. At least something interesting happened with the double plague

Also, my first night kill was going to be Dumpshock. I changed my kill in the literal last minute orders were due night one.
Yeah, I was still following the game even though I was dead, and the analysis being brought forward was scary good.
It helped that the mafia didn't have a whole lot of veterans and had some rather new folks.
Old tactics work again!
As pointed out, the mafia should have attempted to out me even at the loss of one of their own that wasn't under suspicion. I was expecting it mid-game until the end and it never came.
In many ways this was so damn close because of what easily could have been to unravel it all. In the end no one voted for me though.
The mafia said they didn't actually know who you were, so "outing" you wasn't an option. THey just wanted you dead 'cause you were the closest we had to a network head.

It was entirely possible they could have figured it out and outed me after I stubbornly refused to die to their repeated attacks after both guards had died. :rotate:

The last night was actually possible for any faction to win, but infidel had to go for either mafia or village win.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
In the end? The end was way too late, mistakes were made on an earlier front - us poor villagers can only make assumptions considering that we can't access the Source of Truth. There was no strong reason for roman and I to suspect infidel above sportz/whoever. Infidel is smart enough to make his story in the thread faultless and cunning to make it convincing. Well played, beardy man!
It's all the fault of specials! SPESHULLLS!

I will go into a few scenarios later.
I had a few hidden mechanics to keep things interesting, despite the boon of knowledge th sk started with.
I.e. the seer+guard scenario. Losing the seer instead of the vigilante on day one was big. Infidel could not beat a double seer.
The game was balanced to make it winnable for the sk, but EVEN SO it barely happened

It hasn't come up yet in games I've seen, but I'll remember that now. I should have done so, especially with my shoddy voting history. Again, I was really worried about losing the second kill and everyone in the mafia felt very exposed.

Bullshit. Sure there was the passing the weapon on part which he knew about. But there was nothing even hinting that he couldn't be guarded like normal

The mafia not making a decisive move is what helped make it possible for me to still win this. Since it is known that I was all on my own and my kills/victory die with me, it is easily worth the exchange of any one person.
Mafia coulda had me if they had seen it through with the continual kills on me. I would have recommended it if I was the mafia, since I wasn't REMOVING your kills, just redirecting, so you weren't behind ultimately. You had the chance that I might redirect on you if you didn't know the mechanics fully, but I didn't want to redirect to a mafia. I didn't expect you guys to try a second time, so when I killed double vanillager Citizen and Cythraul cause my shield was up and I didn't think it would go down, it was oh fuck.
I still don't think the village would have bought it if any of us had revealed but tried to finger Infidel as the SK.
All things considered, Infidel winning is alright with me, or at least better than the village winning - he played well, and they got what they deserved for sheeping behind him.
I would have recommended it if I was the mafia, since I wasn't REMOVING your kills, just redirecting, so you weren't behind ultimately.
Well, our first attempt on you we did just straight up lose the kill, as I recall, since you were guarded (don't remember precisely). Then the next night, based on what we had been told about the guard mechanic by Munkus (albeit inadvertently), we thought you'd be exposed, and that kill got busdriven. Then Munkus told us he had changed the guard mechanics around to compensate for us finding out about them too early. So at that point everything we thought we knew about the guard/busdriver may as well have been total disinformation (getting that info early actually completely hurt us and didn't really help at all), which was frustrating, and probably contributed to our decision to leave you alone for a little while.
In hindsight of course you can see that it was bad, but you couldn't have known about the guards.
The only reason to consider not playing it like that was the risk given to you at game start, and you just have to evaluate that risk.
I gambled on killing Assuran because it was worth risking a blocked kill to take a chance at getting two per night.
It also brought me all the specials in private.
I never revealed to you! Did you actually know I was a special?
After that whole tech discussion we had I sent a PM to langly telling him I thought you were suspicious for agreeing with me because we shouldn't trust information from the narration.
P.S. Bedlam, you're a fun person too! If I am ever in charge of killing I will leave you for last unless you're really something that needs to die quickly!

We knew you were being busdriven but we didnt know that it was a secondary power, I thought there had to be a dedicated village busdriver (and thought that it was dani at first)
Otherwise one of the outed could have bit the bullet before dying to the vote.

And the village had two guards / powered up one-way redirects. They both were "wasted" on me, although I don't consider their efforts to be in vain!
