Does anyone have a "no coworkers as friends" rule for Facebook? I have it for my new job, mainly because a lot of my statuses are about how I hate my coworkers.
One of my managers doesn't know how timezones work. Like, she's missed conferences calls with people in different timezones.

I do! But I don't post much work-related stuff to FB, that goes on Twitter, which none of them understand or use, aside from CFO, who shares the same opinions.

I think I may go through my facebook and trim out some of my friends, and I've only got ~35 as it is.
Racist ex-roommate can probably go, haven't lived with him for almost 3 years.

Kind of. I also try not to post anything public that wouldn't damn me if a co-worker were to stumble upon it
I honestly try not to but some of the shit that goes down here is ridiculous. Fortunately I blocked my FB and I check the security about once a month. Based on lunch conversations, I think only like 2 out of 19 people in the department use FB on a regular basis anyway

I went through a purge of high school people after one guy posted about how he was doing a mission trip to Ireland. No reason to have a slow "unfriend" finger!

I'm facebook friends with a handful of my fellow teachers, but I have a very firm, totally non-negotiable No Students or Parents as Friends rule. Generally the only things that ever show up on my facebook that could be offensive are swear words (many), political/social commentary (lots) and pictures of me being a bit drunk and silly (quite a few), and those facets of my personality are not news to my coworkers. However, I keep those things far, far from my job itself. I know a lot of people who are facebook friends with former students, but that's not ever going to be okay for me.

I have my Facebook locked down tight so only my friends can see ANYTHING after a former fellow employee found my Facebook without asking me to be a friend or anything and proceeded to come to me the next day and tell me how pretty my wife was. Locked that shit down immediately.
I have some family members and coworkers as friends but I just set my status updates to never go to them by default. Plus I pretty much never post shit anyway, so it doesn't make much difference.

Creeepy
I have my Facebook locked down tight, too.
Man at some point I should try and go back and delete old sites I know I have.
I do have one coworker on my Facebook, but not my boss. I also never, ever post anything work related, unless it is SUPER generic, like 'hurrah don't have to go to work today - holiday!' or something like that.
@moriveth thanks for commiserating with me! people can indeed be creepos.
@wimble I know! I am mostly embarrassed that I showed my face by accident!
To be fair
It's not really the people being creepy, even if you were creeped out by it
If they'd somehow managed to hunt down your face pictures when you had them appropriately locked and hidden, THEN they would be creepos!
I know! I don't think they meant anything sinister by it. I am embarrassed that I didn't have them locked when I'm usually more careful about privacy. and I know the guy and he can be kiiiiinda creepy sometimes in real life

just because I sneak into your room at night and cut off locks of your hair to glue to my realdoll doesn't make me a creep
I was a camp counselor for a few summers so a lot of the campers and their parents ended up Facebooking me. For the kids, I wouldn't let them see my pictures or status updates. My wall is pretty tame so I didn't have to worry about that.
Restrictions vary from parent to parent. If the parent has taken me out for a beer or talks to me about adult topics (politics, news, their college years, etc.) then I'll give them more access. If the mom/dad only talks about their kid and I don't have much to say outside of that, then I give them the same restrictions as the kid.
Having those kids is the most ridiculous shit ever though. I mentioned it one time, but one of my campers (whose older brother is a friend of mine) was 11 dating a 16 year old and those two idiots put a picture of her blowing him on his facebook profile picture. The second I saw it I told him to take it down because A) child porn, its gross, and C) i'll tell his parents if he didn't.
The status updates they post drive me up the wall. I'm tempted to make a tumblr of middle/high school facebook posts that are asinine.

Then you aren't stuck in bits' position where you feel it's all passive aggressive and gross.
Satans..... hints.....
It IS creepy... I felt the same way after being e-stalked.
I have updated my bookey marks
i'm currently watching the persona 4 endurance run right now
I occasionally put it on in the background while I'm working on stuff.
ugh I can't imagine how much worse being e-stalked would be. I wish people weren't so creepy!
It was annoying and kinda uncomfortable more than anything else. But I can see how it could escalate into something really gross.
Satans..... hints.....
yeah it's happened a couple of times
it's inconvenient
Stop e stalking me.
Satans..... hints.....
one of you e-stalk me
make me feel like someone needs m(y blood and hair and old chewing gum)

As of now, I am just very picky about who at work I add on Facebook.

i don't think so as of now
