nobody bats an eye when a diner says they have the "world's best coffee" but a military recruiter fudges some things to attract customers to sign over their lives and, suddenly, everyone's all in a tizzy!
Given these stories of recruiters, I'm now surprised how nice and honest mine was. I was like "Well, I'm pretty good at computers, so a technical field would be good for me." His response was something like, "That's certainly a possibility, but you'll probably be washing trucks or something for the first couple of years." He made no effort to sugar coat anything. Unless washing trucks was code for 'Getting shot at.'

the thing about this is the waitlist for technical fields is longer becausae there are less positions there than there are for washing trucks
they try to shuffle you into something that'll get you shipped faster so they get that "my trainee finished basic" check faster
