Why are external hard drives so cheap. They look cheaper than their internal counterparts. Do they use shitty drives or what.
Are you comparing them to a good internal drive or the slow 5200 RPM kind (eg: what they use in mac laptops)?
They usually use slower, cheaper drives for externals since they are going to be limited by the transfer bus anyway.
Yeah that's what I'm wondering. A 2TB WD Black is like $250. This WD Elements 2TB external HDD is $125. But that's still $5 cheaper than the junky WD Green 5400rpm drive.

I remember watching Macross Plus a few years ago on VHS and it was pretty enjoyable too. Not nearly as old as some of the other examples though, but I was pretty impressed.
