Anyway, the point is that ADHD is like the good way you can turn out if you have the factor for antisocial personality disorder. It's the same basic problem, but you deal with it in a more constructive way. I don't want to make assumptions about your family, but there are definitely people in your family who show signs of antisocial personality disorder, aren't there (your siblings)?
It's not the same basic problem, though.
It's only the same problem if by "problem" you mean "something is wrong".
It is the same basic problem in that it is an issue with a dopaminergic pathway to the striatum that would normally dis-inhibit the amygdala. The difference is how the individual deals with this deficiency in a behavioral sense.
It's not a matter of "individual dealing" but rather what the underlying condition causes.
A person doesn't get to choose between being a sociopath or twitching a lot during math class.
Oh, I agree 100%. I'm not supposing that how the individual deals with the deficiency is a decision they make.
So...it's a similar underlying condition that manifests in different ways...making the problems different.

This is a dumb argument, "similar underlying condition" was what I meant when I said "same problem".

he was allowed to choose three candies from his easter basket for a snack
one of his items was a huge pack of like 10 peeps
IT'S AN ITEM GODDAMNIT
he is making his argument stridently and with admirable panache
They should make him eat the whole thing.
dude that's his plan
like if i'm not being clear enough he's a ravenous slob and he gleefully selected these ten peeps as one discrete 'item' of his three, to eat them all (along with his other two candies)
I BOUGHT BASTION AT FULL PRICE LAST WEEK FOR AARON'S BIRTHDAY
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
isn't it only, like, five to ten bucks?
that seems like a small thing to type in all caps about
ten bucks is a lot when you're broke
that's the difference between going out with friends for the night or staying home

I wonder if anybody has ever made a Superman movie where it's possible (not likely, but possible) to make it through the movie without knowing for sure that Clark Kent is Superman.

I worry that you are collapsing two different problems into one problem.
They're "similar" in that all psychological problems are similar, in their being psychological.
But that does not mean they are "the same" problem.
A fractured bone and a broken bone are not "the same" problem. They are similar.
Similarly, ADHD and antisocialblabla are not "the same", but are 'similar".

I don't have a way to get from Philly to Allentown. Also, tomorrow and Thursday I'm either prepping for finals (from 9-12 and then from 1 to 5) or doing a final.
Sorry CC!
Ah, darn. And I'll be going to CT and then back home tomorrow. Alas.

Enjoy CT! It is alarmingly pretty up there. I totally fell in love with it when a friend drove me there in the winter time.

In some ways, it really is the best.
