Does the xp per battle increase on higher tier tanks?
Experience is purely based off of how much damage you do in the round, and there is a positive modifier for all damage done to tanks of a higher tier. It will go up purely because your guns pump out more damage, and your able to stay alive longer to do more damage with more hps at higher tiers. It's funny though the highest xp per game always seems to come on T7 tanks, at least for me. Since your finally able to really put the hurt on T8-10s you can start raking in that modified xp.
Nope. They got rid of that a long, long time ago. Overlord confirmed.

From observation it is a bit more complicated
My friend who plays a scout makes crazy amounts of experience scouting, even if he is suicide scouting at times. He'll make 1800 exp just going in and maybe killing someone, but mostly just lighting the team up and dieing to something.
Winning is maybe 200-300 exp, I think. Maybe a modifier based upon how much stuff you do in the match
There are some tanks you can tell have a artificially lowered credit income (based vs other tanks of the same tier). Exp made seems pretty balanced overall. TDs seem to need to do a lot of work in order to just make any sort of cash (maybe SPGs too)
Credits earned does seem to feel like it is based upon the amount of damage you do to higher tier targets, not necessarily higher tier then you. That is at least the way it "feels". I can go a battle and kill a bunch of 5s and not get much on my T30 but if I kill a bunch of 8s or 9s I get massive cash, so it could be just my games themselves.

You get 50% damage done to an enemy tank by a teammate if you were the one to spot it. That's why your friend the suiscout is getting so much XP.
Nothing to do with the tier of the tank damaged.

I'm willing to bet that it's because tier 8 and 9's have a lot more HP, and so take more shots from you, equating to more damage. Tier 5's take 2-3 shots to kill. Tier 8's and up some 6+ shots.

Pretty much. For credits, it's almost exclusively based on damage done.
For XP more stuff counts into it, like capping, spotting, etc. But yeah, the more damage you do, the better you'll come out XP and credits wise.

Haha, I found that a while after asking the question initially...
Does this mean suiscouting is the best way to get xp on faster lights?
Not necessarily. Or at the very least if you're going to suiscout don't just dash off as soon as the timer is done. Coordinate with your arty and make sure they're ready and aiming where you're going.
Suiscouting often won't do much since most of your team won't be able to take successful shots on the enemy team (unless you're on Malinovka) so it would be useless. Best thing to do is to scout the enemy and then hide and then repeat so friendly arty can take as many shots as possible at them, and your team can more effectively attack since they'll know the enemy's position.

I was just talking about xp, not being remotely effective.
I had a hilarious battle just now. Tiny little t3 french TD. Big ass t5 tank. It charged, came alongside, and then... nothing. It couldn't shoot me. Sadly, it had a friend.
Nope. They got rid of that a long, long time ago. Overlord confirmed.
I think you're thinking of the elevated credits earning for damage on a higher tier tank (which he did debunk), not elevated XP. Otherwise there is no way in hell that my E2 which is only averaging 1200 damage a game is averaging more xp (1017) per game than my IS-7 which is averaging 874 xp per game but doing 2250 damage per game...

I've never even heard of elevated XP due to damage to higher tier tanks. I'm referring to XP specifically.
I'll try to dig up that confirmation by Overlord about this.
I wonder if there is a Alan Partridge set, or a Black adder one.

And got Steel Wall in my first battle with it. Thing's a deflecting machine. I just sat there and picked off their TDs. While they shot me. It was ridiculous. And glorious.
Also, I got the kamikaze award on my Lorraine 39. A tank was coming to kill me, I blasted it, almost got it, and charged forward. We blew each other up in the crash.
Edit: Why must SPGs take so much more xp to unlock?

Because there are 2 fewer tiers to go through.
Seriously, the tech trees are made around the idea that a tier 8 SPG is about the same XP as a tier 10 heavy. You get a new one less often, but you're supposed to wind up playing each line roughly the same length of time.

They're pretty dull until you hit the tier 8 AMX 50 100. Then, you get the awesome sauce autoloaders and get to proceed in spreading said sauce generously.
Isn't the b1's best gun the same as the d2's though?
Yes. Which should be criminal. It is a waste of a team slot.
*double checks numbers*
Lets see... the AMX 40 has a bigger gun (10 more pen, double the damage), 10 higher frontal armor... that is ridiculously sloped (I mean, the scoop part seems basically invincible to anything t4 down), and is somehow considered a "light" tank. I have to wonder how many kills I've scored because someone came out expecting weak armor only to bounce all their shots as I destroy them.
I once had a fight where our team had two AMX 40s against one enemy one. We sat and slugged each other for a good minute. Nobody took significant damage. We only lost because arty started coming in and we were tracked (since it's about the only unsloped area on the front).
The French tanks have some SERIOUS identity problems.
I had a fight with two B1s in an amx 40 once. It was on a city map and the two of them were dumb enough to take turns to poke in and out of cover to shoot me. So they just bounce on me, I bounce on them. Then I finally figure out the armor holes on a b1 and start killing the very slowly. Took all the way till I killed one and got the other to ~30% for him to think maybe he should drive around me to not shoot front armor. Still killed him, and my team by then had killed everyone else
did they change HE shells? what do i do with my B1 against a KV-1 and 2 T-14's? I killed a pziii and then ducked in and out pinging them while they were coming to us (defending assault) I did nothing from 15~ shots.
I installed XvM recently after getting irritated with pubbies constantly referring to it, and I don't know if I like it. I think overall it does more damage than good for your team. The demoralizing effect of seeing a 30% win chance before you even start a match is bad, but also it seems like sometimes people drive too recklessly when XvM shows you having a 70% or greater win chance. The one thing that I do use it for is deciding which herd of tanks to follow. I figure if I follow the good players, they're more likely to actively contribute to a push, instead of stalling out when they see a lone M8A1 or JagdPzIV. It's also useful for when I'm arty because it helps me pick the better target when two or more tanks are open.
Who is going to make the new OP, seems like Synthesis doesn't really play much any more. I have an aversion to maintaining an OP, so count me out. My vote would be for a SIMPer, since they seem to be pretty on top of the game, and game news.
I don't pay much attention to XVM simply because often times it's just plain wrong.
I can't tell you how many times my team miserably lost when we have a 75+% winning chances, and steamrolled the enemrywhen we had 25-% winning chances.
But like you said, it's useful to know which tanks to stick with, though again, I've seen too many "average" and even "good" players do stupid shit, so *shrug*
At this point its best function is making my team roster pretty and colorful.

The only thing that could make this better is if the tank pilots from Barbarossa (nsfw cardgame http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/72809/barbarossa nsfw) showed up in little pop ups when you crew talked.
Now THAT would be truly mortifying.
Big time, of course, being replacing your German crews with the cast of Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS.
