It's easy to forget how utterly amazing Earth is. When you live on it every day, you never think about how incredible things are. And with all the negative things happening across the world, it's easy to forget the beauty.
But sometimes, you hear or see something that makes you realize just how enrapturing the planet can be.
Today I found out that 13-22% of all known species on the planet have only been seen by human eyes once.
And we have millions of species on the planet that have never been seen by any human being.
What makes you love this world?

that nice 70 degree feeling in the middle of may ambling down fifth ave, wayfarer weather, lush summers in new orleans, the week the colors turn in boston
I love the angular landscape of the midwest, how it directly reflected post-enlightenment philosophy, I love the color of the aegean sea, I love flying cross-country midwinter and breaking through the clouds, seeing the way frost gathers on the window

bugs are so cool, man, what kinda crazy god could come up with this shit
i guess it's sort of reductionist but i feel like there's always more decent or neutral things happening then reprehensible ones, people bein' people and doing what they do

tlb's stance on nature: I ain't care about it, it's not people
no human is going to tell me about the time he went to find a nice lady, only to have his head bitten off
or about how he managed to avoid a foe by pretending to be a creature much larger and deadlier than he is
or about the time he and everyone he knew decided to pick up and go across the world with no map, then do it again evey year

i love ocacroke / hatteras so much, they usually straddle the line between too much, like nag's head, and "where the fuck is anything at all" like everywhere else
best thing about the outer banks is the orange blossom bakery though
