I found myself with a bit of extra cash thanks to the fact that my cable company overcharged me one month. So instead of using the money wisely I went and got me some pokemans. Now to decide if I want to start with turtwig or chimchar, decisions decisions.
Who the hell starts with the grass pokemon? I always go with the fire, except for when I can get Blastoise.
I don't really base things off of what type a particular pokemon is. Mostly I go with whichever one looks the coolest. I have no interest in the whole min/max approach.

I looked at the final forms of all three starters and, even though they were all awesome, I had to go with monster tortoise with mountains and a freaking world-tree monsterland on his back.
Too late. I went with Chimchar and have not looked back.

These are some of the best starters
Fire Monkey
Steel Penguin
Earth Turtle
But you just can't beat the fighting fire chicken.

Squirtle starts off pretty good, evolves even better, then somehow turns to complete shit. I blame the 0 budget they had for the first game which made them give Blastoise a tank look instead of something wavy and awesome like they started with Wartortle.
Mudkip never made sense to me and Piplup is for girls.
That leaves Totodile as the best water starter. For now.

It's never about the first stage evo. of the starter.
It's always about the damn third stage.

I remember raising the first Ratatta I caught as one of my core six

I ask because it's better than the other thing where we're looking for the most sexual-innuendo Pokemon.
Giant Rock/Steel Cocks.
OR:
Jynx.
5 dolla.
But Ludicolo is the most racist looking one.
Or Jynx. She is in blackface or whatever.
I managed to get the other two starters easy off the GTS anyways.

Blaziken is one of my favorite starters ever. I also really liked Sceptile. It's too bad the physical/special split pretty much ruined him.
Feraligatr is my favourite water starter
And I really like all the fire starters
Except that none of those are technically starters.
You know it's bad when you long for the days they were doing comics about WoW twice a week...
