is performed on the animal that causes the changes. The
animal's structure or genetics were purposely altered for some purpose.
Raised in the home of a researcher as a pet. Still living
in the home and fairly loyal to family members. The character
will resent humans somewhat, but will still attempt to find
acceptance among mankind.
Jasper worked as an animal behavior researcher for F.O.O.T. Enterprises for four years after grad school, testing genetically engineered mice, ostensibly to ensure reliability for researchers using the mice in other experiments. Just as Jasper could no longer ignore the increasingly radical mutations, he received subject 82403, a larger mouse with reflexes and agility far beyond anything he had ever seen. After losing subject 82403 in the lab three times, Jasper gave him a name and resolved to save him from whatever experiments would be performed on him after being surrendered as "abnormal."
Jasper took his new friend home and took to calling him "Monroe". It was not long, however, before Jasper's employers realized one of their specimens had been stolen. Eager to hide any evidence of their experiments and their purpose, several "security specialists" were dispatched to Jasper's home. Monroe's attempted warnings to Jasper went unheeded, and he had no choice but to disappear when Jasper's murderers arrived.
As his mutation progressed, Monroe grew more intelligent and more angry. Sworn to take revenge for Jasper's death, he no longer tests his agility in Jasper's games, but against the security turbolasers of the companies whose greed killed him. He no longer searches for cheese, but for biological weapon precursors! He does not salivate at the bell of the researches, but tolls it at midnight for the names of the wicked!

GetCo Genetics Product 208.b, or "Reginald" as is his caretaker has come to call him, is the misfortunate genetic mishap of an experiment by GetCo, a prominent military contractor. He was created in an effort to combine human and animal DNA to create viable human organ donor hosts. Reginald was an early model, whose large physical frame was hoped to be able to contain up to 15 human transplantable hearts, and 39 lungs. It is unknown if 39 lungs was some form of odd necessity, a whim of the researcher, or a total accident. Regardless, Reginald has no extra organs since the experiment was a failure. While his face doesn't look particularly human, below the neck he is the most goddamn fine thing you've seen lately and would absolutely get with that, assuming enough liquor were consumed to overlook his unmistakeable gray pallor, and also to blunt the... impact... of his massive hippo penis.
Upon learning of the project failure, Reginald was adopted by a lab technician, who needed someone to help reach things on top of cabinets. Also a sweet tax writeoff for people who adopt the biproduct of military experimentation, but she hasn't admitted that to Reginald.
As a consequence of human DNA, Reginald has managed to avoid some of the physical pitfalls of hippos, appearing more limber and light on his feet than anyone would expect of a hippo. His skin, ridiculous ears, lack of hair, and limited mental capacity has caused him to shy away from society, focusing on athletics to help him keep the pounds off.

Poachers captured him alongside his family in his youth, but he was lucky enough to fall off the truck. Taken in by a mystical hidden village, they heal his wounds with voodoo energies; granting him the humanlike form he now takes. He holds on only to the muddied memories of the only thing he was ever lovingly called: Pelt.
In a short few days Pelt takes chase after his family and his captors wielding a simple but large branch. Through determination and brute force he tears through their encampment and frees the survivors. His own family nowhere to be seen, he returns to his village, his new family, with the legion of freed animals won over by his strength keen to follow their new leader. The new king of the jungle. Donning the ivory suit of a felled poacher, he proudly takes his place this village's protector; always with an ear to the wind to find the family he lost and anyone that may threaten him or his people.

In their single-minded attempt to usher in the next generation of battlefield infantry, the scientists of Gene-Tech, shadow branch of a much larger international military contractor looked to the distant past. Since the earliest days of recorded history, the majestic elephant has been used as an engine of war.
Experiment #8484-R, derisively referred to as 'Babar' by the majority of his insensitive handlers, was the first successful prototype for a new type of genetically engineered infantry soldier. However, fearing the potential for destruction risked by creating a solider with the training and intelligence of a human soldier with the strength and durability of an African elephant, the decision was made to keep 8484-R's strength and speed limited to that of an average human being.
Eventually, the program was deemed a success and it was determined that there was longer any need for a beast-solider with only average strength and speed. Thus, the order to move Babar to 'material status' for laboratory experimentation and eventual dissection was given. Unable and unwilling to carry out the order, Anais O'brien, a handler who had been working with Babar since his was taken from his bio-tank, escaped with him into the night. The two of them have been on the run from Gene-Tech, and their desire to reclaim their 'valuable scientific resource' and to prevent him from falling into the hands of potential competitors.
Babar tends to be introverted, though he can pass himself off well in a social situation - though it drains him emotionally. Despite this, he secretly longs for companionship, though feels it to be a pipe dream given his appearance and circumstances. Due to his wrinkled, leathery grey skin, he is often believed to be much older than he actually is, much to his irritation.
Babar's super-human endurance and thick hide allows him to absorb a tremendous amount of physical punishment, while his intelligence and stubborn will make him a handful for any psionic opponents. He is incredibly dexterous, being able to wield a pistol in each hand and a bladed weapon with his trunk simultaneously - though he prefers more subtle methods of disabling opponents, if possible. He is keenly aware of his limitations and will work to ensure that he stays out of combat unless he is absolutely positive he is at least on equal footing with his opponent as far as his strength and speed are concerned. If he feels the situation warrants it, Babar has no qualms about looking someone in the eye while stabbing them, quite literally, in the back.

Louisville was once nothing more than an average little brown bat that flew here and there across the forests of North America, feeding on insects along with dozens of his other brethren. That is until some unscrupulous organization decided to dispose of highly toxic waste byproducts from mutagenic experiments by dumping them into a deep cave, reasoning that it was fifty cents a drum cheaper than doing so in a safer manner. That cave was one of Louisville's regular roosts and for a time, the drums stayed intact and the bats stayed safe.
But a leak was inevitable. Once it happened, the most of the colony immediately scattered and stayed clear of the save. A substantial number died before they could make it to the exit. But Louisville survived. For whatever reason, the mutagens changed him before they could kill him. He grew in size, his shape changed to resemble the humans he usually avoided, and his intelligence greatly expanded. But when he finally crawled out of that cave, he found that the changes had also taken away his ability to fly. He could still glide somewhat, if he had a running start and enough height to start with. But true flight would be out of his reach from now on.
He subsisted on fruits and whatever small game he could catch, but eventually was forced to forage at the edge of cities and towns. He rooted through garbage and backyards, always careful to stay out of sight, until one day he was seen by a small group of children. It took time, but they gained his trust. And the fact that they tended to feed him also helped in that regard. Through them, he learned speech and the written word. But outside of those few children, he interacted with no one, and continually drifted from place to place, through he always returned to that city from which he took his name every spring.
This means that the animal just happened
to come out like that. For example, in T.M.N.T., Splinter was an

Treerat (Full name is Goddamn Treerat) got his name from what was always yelled in his direction. He was a big scruffy clumsy pigeon before he ate some corn from the Monsanto dumpster. Now Treerat's just under 4 feet tall and just as scruffy, greedy, and clumsy as ever. He is more cunning now and can speak, but not well. His favorite phrase is "Dis is my food!" He's kind of like a large pigeon hobo.

Filled with fear that technology may not progress rapidly enough to provide adequate replacements for petroleum based products as natural supplies of crude oil seem to be approaching a major research lab, well funded by an alliance of concerned nations of the world and corporate interests, begins working on biological replacements for mass, personal, and commercial transit. One team led by an eminent Professor in the field of evolutionary genetics sought to shape and accelerate the evolutionary future of certain animal species, with mixed and surprising results.
Having accidentally imbued certain test subjects with sapience (along with a variety of humanising characteristics) the scientists refused to write these tests off as failures and went into hiding with their newly created charges, fearing that the newly evolved creatures would be killed or enslaved by their corporate and governmental masters.
I can't really think of good things to write about my character in particular, so I'm just leaving it at that for now and coming back to it another day, I think.

Caballito the NINJA CENTAUR...was once upon a bye, a proud, mighty steed of the Chīsana Uma Clan, he and his rider often led the charge in daring raids and perilous scout missions when speed and deft was of the utmost importance.
He and his rider were the pride of the Umas; until one fateful night, a raiding party went sour, an errant flaming arrow hit a barrel of unknown substance and set it aflame. Explosions soon rocked the courtyard, his rider tossed from his mount, a panicked Caballito ran through the darkness, unaware of the strangeness he was breathing in that would soon change the course of his entire life.
Exhaustion took him shortly after and he passed out…awakening weeks later. He wandered aimlessly for a while, confused and scared but mostly confused because what the hell, he has hands now. He was soon taken into the care of a kind gentle man with a long beard, wispy mustache and a curious manner of speech.
The old man taught Caballito the way of the sword and the bow; though martial arts wasn’t all there was to learn, being able to dual wield katanas is not all there is to being a ninja centaur. Caballito learned the value of patience and perseverance, what it means to be an honorable warrior. He is slow to trust and speaks little, but beneath his calm gaze lays an indomitable spirit. He is determined to use his new life to find his old rider and reform the Chisana Uma Clan, who were rumored to have been scattered among the lands after having their lands overtaken by a rival clan.

Donning the ivory suit of a felled poacher, he proudly takes his place this village's protector; always with an ear to the wind to find the family he lost and anyone that may threaten him or his people.

Animal Type: Lynx
Origin: Accidental Encounter
Some "strange stuff, radiation,
energy, chemicals, biologicals, or other strangeness, causes the animals
to mutate.
Adopted by a "mentor" who teaches and guides the character
in some form of special training. This is often Ninjitsu, but all areas
of special training can be selected. These characters will learn to
be philosophic about all creatures. Their attitude could be summed
up as, some people are good, some bad, everyone deserves a chance
to earn your trust.

Wolverines!
I always knew

Ohe jeez, those stats make me so sad.

For example, in T.M.N.T., Splinter was an
unusually intelligent and skilled rat long before the accident that
created the T.M.N.T.

Ninja Horse!
Can I be a centaur?
Yup, I am a silly man.
