so i guess my university considers summer to be the following year (what fucking logical reason is may->august 2013 part of the 2014 school year), so they called me all accusatory because i took math at another school over the summer and took financial aid at that school (which for them was the 2012-2013 school year)
so anyway I'm not getting financial aid next semester (well I am, but just barely enough to cover tuiton, none for gas or rent or anything)
I guess the best option is to just not go to school next semester

Really, it's like, healthcare reform and education reform. If we even took a middling step forward in a real way in either of these the quality of life for young Americans would rise, IMO, exponentially in a short time.
I know it is hard to imagine but we actually had some minor financial reform with student loans under Obama. The fact they federalized students and removed them from the private sector has been a huge improvement in the quality of life of tons of young Americans.
That's all well and good and I know the government intervening in private institutions is a little too close to a step towards COMMIES, but I'm less concerned with federalizing student loans and more concerned with the fact that from my first year in college to my fourth year the price went up some $6000 a year and having now been out for three years it's risen again by almost that much.
I went to a school that was $26k for tuition the year I enrolled that is now $38k for tuition as of this fall. They have the largest freshman class ever (they are housing some students in hotels), which is obviously leading to ballooning class sizes and poorer professor/student relations. It also takes a large portion of the campus and separates them from the rest of the student body. So kids this year are paying $12k more a year for an arguably MUCH worse education. THAT, to me, is criminal.
