It really depends on what you're trying to do. That being said, I am operating a mac with a 1.3 GHz processor and 1 gig of RAM and, if you're like me and don't do anything to heavy on your laptop (that's what a desktop is for anyways) then you shouldn't have any problems. Nothing immediately struck me as godawful. Seems to be a decently priced, decently equipped and decently sized little lappie.
Edit: Oh, if it is going to be a Vista machine then think about investing in another gig of RAM.
Maybe let us know what you require in a laptop. That laptop is a basic office machine, suitable for the Microsoft Office Suite and other productivity software. Multimedia applications are going to stagger on it and gaming wouldn't be possible.
So if you're writing papers, surfing the web, sending e-mail, and using basic programs like itunes... no problem! Anything more complicated and you'll feel the pinch.
If budget possible, though, look for a laptop with a Core 2 Duo chip inside. You'll get more bang for your buck in the long run.
hey dudes, yeah, this is a net, movies, porn and light office ap Laptop. It'll be docked most of the time. I'm just looking to reduce the cost. I've got a p4 2.4 desktop that'll sti behind my tv for media stuff as well. I'm just wondering if I'm getting an ok deal here.
Vista has a unique feature that allows it to use a great deal of memory in exchange for giving you quicker access to the data that you use most. In addition to taking a bit of memory in the first place, this feature tends to pretty much eat up a gig, so, in the long run, you'll be best off with that extra gig; if you really want to enjoy using Vista.
It's not like you have to get it with the laptop. In fact, if you get the laptop you can see how Vista runs and if you decide you need the extra RAM then get it then. You may not need it. But it generally makes the experience a bit nicer.
I used Vista with a gig and I found the experience mildly unpleasant. It really depends on what you use it for, but vista on its own will chew up at least 512 MB of ram.
