I like games like Minecraft and I like space so I love Space Engineers
I like to build large complicated things, structures and ships a few hundred meters in size with working elevators, docking bays, fighters, etc
Then sometimes I just like to recreate the film Gravity and watch all the bits fly around with the things I've built like, take the ship docked in the above image and lock its main engines to full ON position (which is 105 meganewtons of force according to the control panel), the ship weighs about 12 million kilograms
After my PC gets done having a seizure and the ship team rockets out to the great beyond I get to assess the damage
Like I understand that you can't have infinite exploration in an fps. I am cool with that.
But I am not a fan of the my character lacking the ability to open doors.
As FPS go I would Shadow Warrior is way above Bioshock Infinite. I really want Wolfenstein because I hear that hits a whole different level.
Or how about Booker being active in, like, two whole storyline decisions? Neither of which matter.
I am trying to focus on mechanics mostly because that game is so easy to accidentally spoil.
I have issues with it.
Part of me wishes they just called it Infinite. Drop the Bioshock. I think part of the problem is it is carry the baggage of the Shock family.
System Shock and Bioshock were about exploration, decisions and not just story ones but gameplay ones.
Do I fight this Big Daddy? Do I have the resources? Is it worth it?
Or in SS2, do I go in the room? My gun might break. Do I have the resources to do x or y? There was a season of unknown and idea of resource usage was the key.
Also I can go on, but I found the story itself middling.
It was Outer Limits level writing. Not bad. But not amazing.

I'm gonna play Shadow Warrior when it comes to the XBone, because it feels like a game that would benefit from a cinematic living room setup. Was pretty tempted when it was on Steam sales, though.
Its an old school fps.
Seriously I would stick to the controls it was made for.
It has more than one fight that just doesn't really work in my head on a controller. Precise aiming while dodging and swapping movement.
There's a demo in Steam. I could download that and decide.

The harder enemies don't show up till late in the game but I would say try it.
It really is built for the PC.
Also god damn that game is pretty.

Thinking about a few different people tonight, dedicating this one to them - you're never over:
I saw a 75" 4K curved-screen tv last week and now there's nothing else I want to watch things on.
I'm gonna look into replacing our projector with a 4K projector when good 4K projectors with great color reproduction hit near mainstream pricing. Not going back to television.
got the first of the three important deities written.
got the outline of the first 3rd of the plot done
got the detailed outline of the first quarter done.
The main hook for this RPG idea will be that sometimes when you encounter another character important to the story, you can swap perspectives and become that person instead of the character you're currently playing. Sometimes doing this will take you in a different direction entirely, opening up options not possible before and closing others entirely. Characters may go in a direction you didn't expect or didn't want while you're not controlling them, and the next time you encounter them you'll have to contend with a different set of situations.
Eventually it's possible to bring all the playable characters together into a group and swap between them at will. I foresee maybe 6 distinct endings, including at least one very dark ending and one complete disaster.
I feel like a curved TV would be the sort of object you designed your room around.
You'd have to, since the viewing angle on them is tiny compared to normal TVs. Any seating you wanted used for the television would have to be placed very specifically

Bottom shelf vodka is terrible and terrible for you.
Spool18, don't drink Bottom Shelf Vagrant's Choice. There are plenty of certified student affordable booze options that don't need to be drowned in a gallon of sugar water to be drinkable.

The curved screen I saw had pretty good viewing angles, but I agree, it should be the focus point of any room it's in.
I want to remodel my living room, and I've got just enough room for a 55" if I play my cards right.

Welcome to sobriety, brother.

And then just
I guess
Stop for a while....
Alas
But it helps me sleep!

Curved is neat if you are watching only from a fixed position, but it's bad if people sit far to the right or left.
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
You'd have to, since the viewing angle on them is tiny compared to normal TVs. Any seating you wanted used for the television would have to be placed very specifically
one leather chair, placed at optimal distance
surround sound pointing directly at it from various points in the room
sound dampening baffles on the walls
badge access swipe on the door
specifically on my lap
