No excuse given for his abusive behavior yet, but I can feel it approaching. Kind of disappointed it's going that way. Maybe he has to pretend to be an asshole because of STEADMAN!
I don't think Tom is trying to "excuse" Anthony being a shitlord. I'd like to think, maybe, he's trying to describe a situation that a lot of people don't understand, that abusive people can seem perfectly normal with everyone else, can be kind, warm and loving with people who are not their victims, to the point that people who don't see the abuse say, "This person can't be an abuser, I know him/her and I've never seen them be anything but great! They volunteer at the free clinic/rescue dogs/fund a halfway house, how could someone who does that be abusive?"
Although I don't really know how you communicate that type of thing, especially since lots of people have problems processing gray morality and just want to know if someone is bad or good.

I guess the idea is, since The Witcher doesn't pause the game when you go into inventory, the player switching out clothes means a period where the npcs see the player without any pants.

why's he look like he's having a stroke or something
I do think the headmaster's studied indifference is part of a strategy to deny coyote power, since he is literally made out of human thought and imagination
which, I think, is the reason he denied annie the role of court medium, she was a Believer

While I think you're right in that the best defense against Coyote is a steadfast indifference to him, I think the reason for passing over Annie are more related to the Court's ultimate objectives than anything to do with the forest.
the role of a diplomat is to set forth the interests of the entity they represent, not start diplomatic crises in themselves, or go mucking about with defense systems on one's own side and provoking combatants on the other
between the underage drinking and embarrassing public fight between their medium-in-training and the guard supposedly appointed to defend her, there's basically nothing good about Annie's little forest adventure from the Court's perspective
the Court probably does have higher objectives, but they might not diverge very far - Jones may be essentially correct in her old description of the Court as simply not taking the Forest entirely seriously. Annie has some very human emotional-stability problems that may trump the benefits of aetheric relationships with the Forest
I think it's important to notice that he hasn't referred to his daughter by name once during Donald's visit. Like, he couldn't even say "when Surma got pregnant with Annie," or "our daughter." Nope. It's "Surma's pregnancy." And when he talks about why they stayed away from the Court, Annie isn't "our daughter." He say's "her daughter." Surma's. Not his.
It's like he can only see Annie as a living monument to what he considers his greatest failure.
Thunderstruck has some skepticism from the quarter-demon spawn on the existence of vampires.
It also features approximately 95% less Katana BS, which I appreciate. (Yes, there's still some, but at least it's fading)
Okay, so true story; I made a website for my company, and got given a terrible closed-source social-networking site template to make it from. There was no documentation for it, I had to change it extensively, and after four months of work the result was the worst aberration of code I've ever been responsible for. Between other tasks, I worked on a guide document to say how and where to make changes to the code to accomplish things, in case anyone else ever needed to change the site.
Then they fired me, and oops, I deleted the guide before I left.
Rechecking the site now, and the banner for the competition that closed in 2010 is still up there, so either they never thought about it, or whatever poor sucker got tapped to fix it gave up in frustration.
Speaking of lines in that GC that aren't at all innocuous, how about "that business with James"? We still have no explanation, or hint really, of why Surma left him.
Also, I want to say that those last two panels are super good. Not that they're especially great drawings, but because Tony shows us so much emotion with so little expression.
One of the job sites I found in googling shared this story.
Coder A, Coder B, database manager
C-A and C-B work on project, dm takes the code developed by the team and has it uploaded to the server at the end of the work day for security and backup.
C-A comes to dm one day and says to take the final work of the day from this particular station from here on out. dm obliges.
Work continues as normal, until on day, dm comes across C-A and C-B having a fist fight and several other employees attempting to restrain them.
C-A had asked the dm to take the final work from his personal workstation after C-A and C-B left while C-B was working on the assumption that they had to still working as a team. C-A had been reworking the code on their own, and totally undoing and ignoring the work C-B had done,
in essence, doing the entire project themselves.
Its been too long and I can't remember how it ended.

I think his really kinda off relationship with jones played a pretty big part

Surma? Kind of a bitch.

If that initial interpretation is correct (I haven't played Witcher 3) then the look is probably to indicate the trance-like state the player is in while going through their menu.

what if someone did that thousand fold rigmarole to actual good metal
is there some rich awful nerd who commissioned and owns what really is best blade ever forged by man
but it has like, sailor moon on it
The problem with the "thousand fold" thing is that there's more to steel than the number of times it has been folded, and there comes a point where you fold it too much and ruin it.
If we use Demon as the basis of a baseline narrative comic. I can tell what the fuck is going on, I recognize most of the characters, the macro plot is interesting, the personal plots kind of run together because far too many people look alike.
There's no camel fucking, but unfortunately, there's drow fucking which gets in the way of the plot.
Today's Grrlpower shows the less intelligent of the Archon staff getting confused about differences in scale, i.e. her mission toe is not on the same scale as peggy's missing leg.
I'm also certain that Diaz tuned into friday's strip.
edit: How many times has Ross kicked ass in a comic where she's the only badass, and how many times has each female in Grrlp kicked ass in a comic full of females?

Like, if he pulled a Zuko and went "Oh shit, that was wrong. I need to fix this." Then he'd be okay.

Absolutely. He has a lot to make up for to Annie, and also to his friends.
But after seeing this, I don't think I can really blame him for being so cold anymore.
It absolutely explains his behavior.
He can't let go of Surma, and that bottled up loneliness and guilt keep him from seeing straight with his daughter.
Seems like him hiding away from everyone is symbolic of his emotional state.
