Isn't DuckDuckGo primarily recommended for privacy of information rather than actually providing optimal results?
I believe so, but I guess there's a nitty-gritty philosophical question in there about whether tailored/curated results are necessarily optimal results
I'm sure top men at Google are independently working to figure out this obscure branch of the philosophy of science.
Well you see we've identified a number of thought experiments which illustrate cases in which curated responses are not preferable for the user
Fortunately for us, none of them impact monetizing 99.99% of users' personal data, so we've ceased research in this area.

I am not a huge fan of this new thing where games seem to want to default to windowed mode. A game interface is more than busy enough; I don't want all that garbage hanging around the edges, nor do I need instant access to distractions from my distraction.
I thought I was done with my paper for this weekend's conference but it turns out the women who more or less wrote the book on the topic I'm covering is attending, so I MAY need to go over it again and be sure I'm not going to embarrass myself
Leaving for Tokyo in 18 hours!
I don't think I heard, what is this particular presentation of yours on?
Great question! Similar stuff to what I always talk about, with more attention paid to a diversity of gazes influencing the contemporary media space

I think it might have to do with the proliferation of ultra-wide displays and multiple monitor setups and such, it's hard out there for GUI people who can't assume certain standardized aspect ratios and primary displays I guess

Idgi either. I got Factorio the other night and it did that as well.

the shape of cheap mionetto prosecco bottles is so pleasing, its authenticity to the lower class and appeal to the assenting upper-middle classes both undeniable

[Chat] we need to get our best statisticians together to determine how many reactions have been lost by the mods oppressive 500 kB inline restriction. Tens of thousands of reactions are left without homes thanks to the oppression of the upper class.

@kana when the program for the conference actually comes through (Mechademia has a habit of delaying that stuff until the last possible minute) I'll forward you a copy, see if there's anything you might want to follow-up on

Despite the fact that it's 10PM, I want to head over to my grandparents' tombs right now and see if they are okay after the cemetary was used as a parking lot.
But.. oh my god am I mad at the person who attacked the fire fighters for trying to help make things right because the cemetary is a private corporation and they could've billed the Trump campaign for the damages/insurance, and therefore our tax dollars shouldn't have been spent on repairing it.
In fact... I'm fully prepared to just not drink a single beverage tonight that doesn't include alcohol
I've got a lot
My dad left it to me
My dad... didn't drink
Consume plenty of water. And eat some salty food.
This probably falls on deaf ears but if you feel like death tomorrow remember me.
I can't make any promises regarding water consumption and/or hydration levels, but I'll try. And, as far as salty food goes, I'm already eating pizza and will continue to do so
@milski yes, that is how swole [chat] works. I mean, I pick up white girls fairly often at least

Whereas with my recent penchant for streaming, I'd like if more games started in windowed mode.

if I can't smoothly alt tab, ideally from sort of a fullscreen/windowed combo situation, I probably won't load the game

I think the general ennui made me think of you. It pervades the article.
Dissatisfaction of corporate drones and mid level career employees. The crushed sense of no growth or goals.
Hmmm...maybe I shall join you.
