No time or inclination to make meatballs at 11pm. Are the precooked frozen ones any good, or better to just skip?
I don't think I've ever had a good Italian meatball frozen. They're always ridiculously salty or taste weird. If I want to make a meaty addition to sauce I use those store brand hot Italian sausage links. Can be frozen, forgiving when defrosted in a microwave, char up nicely even on a stovetop to add some complexity.

I think you might be too worked up about this but also I always thought that's precisely what nerdcore was. It's hip hop about nerd shit.
Is there some other defining characteristic?

Best Buy better price match that surface pro 4 on amazon for me or I am gonna be piiiiiiiisssed. Best Buy already sucks it has one good use and that's letting me ignore shipping and financing stuff. Everything else sucks. All of it.

like east coast, and west coast, and south side, and trap.
they have sounds and content and vocabulary.
nerdcore, ehhh.... I don't listen to it really so I can't break out the traditional sound for you.
Yeah but they have differing musical qualities which define them (as does nerdcore)
we do not define rap genres by lyrical subject
I don't see how you can really separate lyrical subject from the genre in any meaningful sense. Country music sings about certain things. Pop sings about certain things. Gangster rap, Christian rock, club anthems, epic metal, all sing about certain things. Lyrical subject isn't the entirety of genre and you can have works that break the mold on lyrical subject fit into a genre, but lyrical subject is absolutely a key part of genre.

I think a lot of that has been true in those scenarios and probably on the whole the majority of the time there are musical differences between subgenre
but I'm betting there are a decent number of examples where the content is the chief difference
like wasn't riot grrrl mostly ideologically different from other punk of the time?

no, we basically define it by the social subculture preformed by the musicians that create.

whoa I didn't sign a release on this shot of my bedroom
I think rap and folk at the very least would disagree wholeheartedly with that
