    I wondered the same thing, but sometimes Katie posts roughs on her patreon. One of the sketches shown had Malachi grabbing on to a branch growing from the side of the cliff and Seventeen grabbing on to Malachi's legs. Presumably that still happened, the branch broke and they ended up on the ledge, mostly safe.
    I think the comic mainly works on cartoon physics/the rule of cool, whatever makes for a more humorous or expressive story.

    I didn't, I think Malachi is just hungry, but I did mentally do that in my head.
    I can picture Seventeen doing that as she eats each petal.
