I was listening to this album in the car this morning. I think my favorite tracks are:
1-02 Mustin - Now Is the Winter (The Mines of Narshe) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLhvelx05N4
I mean, it's Mustin, the guy that started The OneUps. Of course he's got that smooth jazzy sound on lock.
3-03 Rexy - Gestahlian Sonata (The Empire 'Gestahl') https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KLNw_fug4M
I loooooove the way this opens with Terra's Theme and then moves so smoothly into the Empire's Theme. Somber, Mournful, Beautiful.
3-14 Derek Oren, Jeremy Robson - Elegy for a Ruined World (Dark World) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoDfRq4-Z-M
I don't actually know how to describe why I like this so much. Literally at a loss for words. It crafts such a hauntingly beautiful soundscape...
4-09 Shnabubula, Gabe Terracciano - Ending Suite (Ending Theme) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iyPd6sOpfU
The entire ending suite, just a violin and a piano, and man, they pour their hearts into this performance. I tear up every time.

My project managers are giving me ulcers hhhhallllp
Hey man, I'm sending you a 3200 line spreadsheet, I need you to fix a pricing error, that has every price off by a decimal point.
Can you get that to me by 1:00 pm?
For me it's "Hey I haven't done any coordination with other trades on any of your projects, have not submitted any of your quotes to the customer, and have not read any of your emails... Also I made sure the equipment you requested was not the equipment I ordered. Do you need anything else?"
We have 2 full time project managers for less than 10 field staff and fully half of our field staff basically do nothing but follow around the guys that do the actual work and help them out.
Construction?
Are we in the same field?
Are you a project engineer?

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT CTO just called me into his office and nothing is official yet but they're reclassifying a job upstairs and provided the paperwork gets set they've unofficially (they're not interviewing for it, they want to hire me) offered me a job. I can leave this contractor, work directly for the client, and it'll be like a 20K increase.

So this morning
Some pillar of the community that I've never heard of (because I am a rambler and know so little about the city I currently reside in) passed away a week or so ago, and they're having a big public funeral for her
Anyway, Nargirl's mom wanted to attend, and so did her sister (Nargirl's aunt) who lives out in Kingston
Now, this is my first time meeting this aunt, so I make sure I'm up early, showered, dressed sharply, staring thoughtfully out a window and sipping coffee when she arrives
Nargirl joins us shortly thereafter fully dressed herself, because she didn't feel comfortable being in her pajamas when she was sitting around the table eating breakfast with everyone
But then Nargirl's sister joins us, and she's dressed in a barely-tied bathrobe with what I can only describe as a negligee on underneath it
So already I'm like Oh come on
But then halfway through breakfast she decides she's too hot and she takes the bathrobe off, so now I have to go the rest of breakfast without looking in her direction because everything is visible
I mean on one hand I guess it's good she's comfortable around me
On the other much larger and more insistent hand, maybe that's a little too comfortable
I went back and forth on whether or not I wanted to share this story but I needed to get it off my chest because oh my god

I really need to try Stellaris the next time I'm in a 4x mood.
Its 4x like Crusader Kings is 4x it is 4x grand strategy.
It plays in real time not turns so that takes some getting use to.
Positives:
1) Race design is pretty great
2) Ship design is really good and varied. Weapon types are different and have pluses and minuses. Fights look cool.
3) The early game is one of the best expansion modes ever.
4) Lots of neat sci-fi tropes and creativity in the game letting you do a lot.
5) End game crises are amazing.
Cons:
1)Mid game bogs down fast to kind of a waiting game between wars
2)You can only claim 3-4 planets at a time in a war. This makes conquering the galaxy a slog.
3) Sometimes there isn't a lot to do but watch the map turn.
The next expansion though is doing a huge revamp on governments, races, race creation, end and middle game and a few other major things. So much like CK2 is not even close to the same game it was as launch Stellaris is really upping its neatness.

The dark world song is haunting because the initial music was haunting and also the scenario anyone who's played the game associates it haunting - waking up from a forested green jewel to a barren, dying land of red seas and crumbling rock, all your friends dead, forced to wander and see the suffering of everyone because what other choice is there? That is a nightmare, and the game does everything right in showing it.
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT CTO just called me into his office and nothing is official yet but they're reclassifying a job upstairs and provided the paperwork gets set they've unofficially (they're not interviewing for it, they want to hire me) offered me a job. I find it humorous that Jim Sterling has figured out that if you put clips from japanese nintendo releases and US nintendo releases in the same youtube video, Nintendo will fight Nintendo for the monetization rights
