He looks kind of weird in the line art stage because I wanted to try to stick to the cel shaded look as much as possible. I probably wouldn't bother defining the collarbones if I did it again.
I do kind of a mental block in on the page to try to get a general sense of proportion ("If I make the head this big, I should be able to get to about mid-thigh. This should give me enough room on the left for the arm...") and then pick a place to start, usually the head or shoulders.
After that, I have a tendency to fall into focusing on the contour, trying to keep an eye on how "landmarks" match up.
Jesus, I'm so jealous of the way you can make markers as clean as digital art, it's crazy. That latest piece reminds me of that new Dark Crystal graphic novel
Something about her eyes seems off, they seem almost too small. Maybe her face is actually like that, but I don't normally get that feeling from your drawings.
I normally end up making eyes 10-15% larger than they actually are but these are pretty close to actual size. I also think the shading around her eyes isn't quite dark enough.

We usually do 10 1-minute poses, a handful of 5-minute and 10-minute and then 3 20-minute poses.
The drawing on the left is a 5-minute, the toned drawing is a 20.
