What I found illuminating in that cryptocurrency thread is they never mounted an argument against the idea that cryptocurrencies were experiencing a bubble, but instead tried to foment a fear that the same "bubble" could happen to a fiat currency at any time.
Which a) No, for a hundred reasons, and b) Why is your solution to something that could conceivably experience failure to invent something that will definitely experience failure?
You don't like currencies, get out of the currency game, my man. Don't make up one in your mind and tell people they have to honor it or they're oppressing you!
All I want is for the really stupid to stop thinking they're smart. Or, at least, be very quiet about it.

Y'all were mentioning Paterson but I hadn't heard of it 'til now so I assumed you were talking about Paddington until I remembered just now that his name is Paddington
A number of Chinese mobile applications have been shut down after it was revealed women on their platforms were actually automated robots, it's reported.
According to the Modern Express newspaper, police have closed down mobile apps associated with 21 companies and arrested more than 600 suspects operating across 13 provinces, after discovering that messages from some women were being automatically generated by computer programmes.
Police in southern Guangdong province began investigating in August 2017, after suspecting one app of fraudulently charging visitors to view pornographic videos which did not exist.
Further investigation found that technical personnel from at least one company had created fake "sexy girl" accounts. They wrote computer programmes which generated greeting messages and compliments from fake accounts, and targeted these at newly registered users.
"They solicited gifts and posted other messages to lure the user into spending money, and thus illegally generating profit," the police report reads. It says that tens of thousands of people are believed to have been conned out of a total sum of one billion yuan ($154m; £113m).

How come I don't have the motivation, athletic ability, good looks, charisma, or intelligence to be in the Marines and then transition into acting in billion dollar movies
Of all of the reasons you can decide to go pro se....this feels like the dumbest.
When would a court be okay withholding documents in your case from you? And why would they show them to your attorneys, but not to you?
idgi
In this particular case, I assume it's because they feel Milo is a fucking moron who will immediately post them to twitter. But if something basically falls under internal documentation then they might mark it that way to keep the other side from being able to use them outside of a court case. For instance if the documents cover internal decision making processes you might not want another company to know that. But in this case I am mostly sure it's because Milo is a fucking idiot and S&S doesn't trust him not to make a larger ass of himself.
Yeah, google makes it sounds like it's mostly about trade secrets.
It sounds like most jurisdictions recognize strong presumptions in favor of clients being able to participate in their defense, clients being informed by counsel with all relevant info, and in a public interest in having access to court records, all of which conflict with attorney's eyes only provisions, and so they're really supposed to only be used in cases where the party seeking the designation can demonstrate a specific competitive harm that would befall them a la a real trade secret and competitor.
Seems like a gross designation, but I guess there's not much way around it. I'm kind of surprised, though, that it works in practice--that megacorps can't find attorneys who are willing to leak that stuff back to them, at least when it's possible to do it without getting caught. Maybe it's just that it's not that easy to get away with it? Idk.
Presumably Milo's lawyers would have challenged the designation if they could, though, especially if he was threatening to fire them otherwise, so that's evidence that it's legally supportable in this case anyway. Cute twist if representing yourself gets around it. Wonder what the court does with that.
Yeah, attorneys'-eyes-only discovery is usually only appropriate when industry competitors are in a lawsuit against each other or if the claims relate to legitimately valuable trade secrets; for example, I worked on a case where some Google source code was attorneys'-eyes-only, and there was a very convoluted process for viewing, copying, storing, and eventually destroying it
Otherwise, it's usually enough to sign NDA's for whatever valuable trade secrets happen to come out in discovery, because there's no particular reason to think the opposing party -- someone who is not a savvy industry competitor -- is willing and able to somehow profit from breaking the NDA

"Hey can you declare more readable variable names?
Stuff like this doesn't really work for me:
var v1 = function();
var v2 = someotherfunction();
Instead can you do
var account-subtotal = function();
var running-total = someotherfunction();"
I feel bad because refactoring is a pain in the ass but I can't make heads or tails of this source code.
if you are using a civilized IDE (Visual Studio or equivalent) you should be able to click on a variable and choose "rename" and it will find all instances of its use (not just a text search, but that particular symbol) and rename it.

At this McDonald's there is an old man with pure white hair hunched over a tablet playing World of Warcraft with his face about 2 inches from the screen.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
The court is just gonna violate him over this. They do not like this kind of fuckery and they'll know where the leaks came from.

That was the weirdest thing to me, watching it.
It doesn't feel like the middle movie of a trilogy. It feels almost like a capstone to a series or the launch of a series.

I usually stream earlier than that (6-7 mst) so we can throw to you when we finish if that lines up! We haven't solidified the day yet though.
I also want to do a DnD game on stream and have almost enough committed players for that, so have to find a day for that too.
