They’re not for everyone, but it’s very satisfying to put together a space marine force with full insignia and regalia. Scratches that historical miniatures itch across medieval heraldry, WW1-2, and modern warfare all in one.
I could not agree more. As I put campaign badges on some of my marines, and look at the one who served in the deathwat h, and see which ones are vet sergeants, which ones are from the first company, etc... I love this stuff.

This really should be stuff for all the armies but I know why marines have it and most don't.
I do still have my guardian head on the back of zerker from him wiping like two squads when I started playing solo. Duded earned that skull.
Describing an explosion blowing someone up in a shower of gore is probably okay, it’s more protracted scenes of uncomfortable stuff. Like your average action movie quick squib cutaway scene is okay, but don’t be writing any torture porn Saw shit.
Just checked the list of themes they’re looking for, and now I want to do an Ork police procedural.

I want the 1k Sons and Necron books bad. I have no idea what they'd add to the Necron book, though. I don't anticipate models, but, hoping for a buff somewhat.
I suppose a point reduction will happen. It seems to have happened to every faction.
Also, rumor has it they're going to nerf Denizens of the Warp or the stratagems in general to prevent deep striking Primarchs lol.

Codex: Thousand Sons and Codex: Space Wolves are definitely two I'll pick up. No plans to collect them for a while, going to finish my GK's and my now planned Ultramarines first.
Heavy Support:
1 Squad 5x Hellblaster w/ Plasma Incerators
2 Predators w/ Twin Lascannon, side Lascannons
Flyer:
1x Stormraven Gunship w/ Twin Lascannon
The idea is simple: Bring to bare a ton of Lascannon fire to soften monsters and vehicles, use the Repulsors to bring the intercessors to objectives, where they can use their special objective rule to hold it out numbered with the Repulsor as fire support. Captain and Lt. will use the repulsors to get where they need to be to provide their bubbles. Hellblasters will be back up heavy fire support for a tough objective or get Repulsored in to clean up a nasty unit or vehicle.
I think it came to 1997 points in Battlescribe. Annoyingly none of the data blocks for Battlescribe seem to have R'Booty, so this is my non-primarch version of the army. I'll probably drop a Repulsor and shove in R'Booty if I want to run the Primarch.
Was bored during a meeting, so with the models I have and the one's on their way via the wonders of Internet shopping, threw together a 2k list for my Death guard.

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like you could move 3 Fast Attacks from the first Battalion and 1 HQ from the second to an Outrider detachment and get another 1 CP?

Plan is to pretend I’m playing an IG list. Artillery bots in the back with the lord and Havocs pewpewing the map, cultists blocking assaults and deep strikes while being general nuisances, and the Lord of Skulls tearing up the middle with a rhino full of Warpsmiths and a biker Sorcerer providing support.
So in other news I am still trying to figure ways to fit in some daemons to an EC list. And I was thinking of giving up and using to go with my army when I did alpha legion builds. Bloodletter bounds are amazing and Khorne has a lot of really cool tools for smashing stuff. But then I thought, I can do something similar with daemonettes. It won't be as effective but still pretty effective. Also Slaanesh's powers I have seen leaked look good, especially the mortal wound one.
So I am think along the lines of this:
+++ daemon support (Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition) +++
EC has great shooting and some decent close combat. I don't need the daemons but having some would be fun I think.
The cultist are well to die. 40 of them make a great screen for the back line or holding a point or coming in with tied of traitors.
The Noise Marines are just good. Good damage. Good at holding positions. Dangerous when charged.
Oblits are fantastic with slaanesh no surprise there.
Maulerfiend is because I want to play with mine. More oblits or a predator or havocs fit in there for more competitive play.
I am using my standard hq compliment. Plus the daemons buff the prince and friend who will be moving out with them.
So for the daemons you have the 30 daemonette bomb which starts in the warp (2 cp? 3cp? I forgot which). Herald, KoS, and the smaller ones charge the front with the support cultist and the dp and mauler fiend.
Its a bloodletter bomb just slightly worse. But it would look neat. Plus its fast. Daemonettes are 7"+1d6+1" and can charge after that. Same with the herald. The KoS is the same but 12" base movement. And the DP also gets that bonus same with the maulerfiend if I read the loci right. So that is a nasty first turn if they get in.
If anything it seems like fun.

IT'S FINALLY HERE
My mom pre-ordered it for me for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago. Eventually she cancelled it. I am so glad that it's a real book now (and now I have to read it and wait years more for the next).
I don't have the experience to really critique it, Mazzyx, but that list looks good. And aren't there rumors of something Slaanesh related coming this summer, to?
Fulgrim still has to show .

If the last rumor set that came out is right we have Thousand Sons and Custodes next. A couple of board games. The next shade spire expansion. And this summer is the summer of Eldar with Dark Eldar and Ynnari getting their books. I think orks and Tau were in there but nothing major for Slaanesh.

I thought it was Dark Eldar and Harlequins later this year. I haven't seen anything said about Ynnari, but there was that sneak peak picture GW showed, which looked like it was part of a Wraith construct.
I'd be pretty excited to see a whole bunch of new Eldar which matched the Visarch's aesthetic, although I'd rather GW updated the Craftworld Eldar range, considering how old some of it is, in addition to a lot of it being in resin.

This was codex releases not new models. I will try to find it. It was a leak through one of the closed facebook groups. I do believe there was a vague eldar mention in like the summer that might of been new models but this off the top of my head.
Games Workshop has a lot of models that are out of stock online. I have a $150 credit that needs to be burned on Mortarion and they're stopping me from this. I am....restless.

I just traded in a whole bunch of it boxes (vehicles And things like ogryn) that I've had in the closet for over three years and never opened.
I was able to get just enough to get an Imperial knight. It will be my painting reward for finishing this company.
Building Orks is great. I built an Ork Boy but gave him a boss pole and glued his ironjaw to the forehead part of his helmet and painted it gold so it looks like a crown. He is a lowly Boy who wishes to become a Warboss. He is the Boy who would be King.

He is King Spouis.
Is he of the Deathskulls?
I haven't decided which clan these ladz hail from. I am painting them in a few different color schemes (I couldn't decide between three different schemes, so I'm just using all three) but with yellow as their unifying color. Not as a Bad Moons thing though, just because my Space Marines are red, and red is an "easy" color to paint, so I figured for the Orks I'd pick a color that was more difficult as a challenge. I figure I'll just run them as a homebrew tribe and wait until the Ork codex comes out to see what the various bonuses each clan gets before deciding.
Finishing up this tournament, and I’m feeling pretty wrung out. Started at 9am yesterday til midnight, then today at 9, one more game after lunch. First prize is a fully assembled unwarped Fire Raptor, which I still can’t look at and think is real. I’m getting crushed though so hopefully I can eke out the best sportsmanship prize through my sparkling smile and winning personality.

I got another Khorne game in before the new codex came out. It was a painful match vs chaos with lots of renegade artillery on Hammer and Anvil so there were some big guns I had no hope of scratching after my own heavy support blowing up. All of my berzerkers failed their first charge which could have been a game changer. Only 7 survived to hit the front line and they still chewed through an ungodly amount of units. The mission was simple and I could have won in the end by controlling a single objective but it just lasted a turn too long
I'm excited to put together a daemon detachment and using more fast units and deep strikers. Getting shot while scooting up the board is discouraging
Played a big game today and won by 4-3. With some good luck and also probably would of done it easier if my opponents rolls weren't insane.
We did 2300 points on a normal mission. It was supply drop from Chapter approved. It had first blood, slay the warlord, line breaker. Start with six objectives, on turn 3 both players remove 4 based on a random roll.
The ones left are worth 3 pts.
My opponent was Space Wolves.
List from memory-which building Battlescribe is not only like 200 more points than mine but probably not legal. But I do think he had one more heavy support in his fridge it never was able to come out. There was a tech marine in there too:

More of a fun list than anything. I did have my plasma havocs I infiltrate and my termi bomb. Which the termi bomb made sense in a game this large. ended up doing the one where we started about 18" from each other.
He got first turn and moved towards me with the wulfen the land raider and kept his fridge back. Shooting killed a cultist and took 2 wounds from the mauler fiend. He also shot at me with aggressors.
My turn the heldrake gets into his hellblasters with the gravis captain, kills one with the flamer. Mauler fiend gets into the aggressors killing them. Plasma havocs plus other fire takes the landraider down 9 wounds. Not amazing. Fiend finishes off his aggressors which I think I forgot to put in his list above.
His turn two brings in his giant teleport strike, unembarks the wolfen, and comes to fight me. Kills the drake and maulerfiend but is in a perfect position for my counter strike.
I dropped my termis in his back with the jump lord. Got prescience off on the zerkers. Charged his fridge with my prince. The rest of mine space out to get a good charge and make sure the zerkers eat any and all counter charges.
My termis are in range of his with a full 20 shot barrage ready with endless cacaphony.
He makes 14 saves out of 14 to my super charged plasma shots.
Not a single termi dies to my plasma shots. I should of at least killed a few of them, like ~4 or more.
On turn 3 I was able to get Bjorn into a good combat with my defiler, well the defiler wouldn't call it good but it was perfectly intercept rage of my prince and lord. I should of killed bjorn. He made 6+ 4+ invulns and 5 5+ fnp. I do 3 wounds to bjorn between the three of them.
My zerkers did take down a single termi before dying though.
We called at the top my turn 3 due to time. I had first blood and one objective, he had an objective. I guess I had line breaker too.
Still a pretty fun game. Even when looking at it damn I was out gunned.

Awesome report, good that you won with apparently less points.
Any tips to make games go faster? My one buddy is wavering on going all in because he doesn't want to play a game that takes 8 hours.
***
Separate question, order of operations. My dude has 2+save and 5+ invuln, but gets hit by a -4 AP weapon. He has a +1 to his saves (from a psyker power or cover or whatever). When does that get added, or is it not because we've already hit the invuln?
And All is Dust, if for some reason a guy gets hit by a -4 AP 1 damage weapon, All is Dust adds +1 to ALL saves....does that mean a 5+ invuln goes to a 4+?

Some of my thoughts:
My mom pre-ordered it for me for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago. Eventually she cancelled it. I am so glad that it's a real book now (and now I have to read it and wait years more for the next).
Seriously.
God damn it, Dan Abnett.
Fulgrim still has to show .

There is no way I can paint a primarch. *runs away screaming*
A bit notes and token heavy, but I still like the idea and hope to run it as an event in our campaign.

I was able to get just enough to get an Imperial knight. It will be my painting reward for finishing this company.
I'm currently working on scouts.
I'm excited to put together a daemon detachment and using more fast units and deep strikers. Getting shot while scooting up the board is discouraging

Which building that it is like 400 points more than mine though I might be miss remembering. I thought he had way too much stuff compared to me because a large part of mine was the 36 cultist. So game was 2300 vs. 2700+ points. Okay. Still we built stuff on the fly it happens and it was for fun. I also won so whatever.
